Check out General AT Grabbers. I have those on my bus now. Like them more than the BFGs I had before. On the color, is Velvet Green an option?

Velvet green is pretty awesome color… creamy green.. like dove blue is creamy blue.. So your “Old Man” is going to be driving it?? Probably should keep it all stock even tire size… so it’s a bit easier for him to get in and out of.. Maybe even slightly lowered if he is into that?FranzKeymasterAugust 17, 2017 at 10:00 amPost count: 2971FranzKeymasterAugust 17, 2017 at 10:05 amPost count: 2971Paul SextonParticipantAugust 17, 2017 at 5:03 pmPost count: 87
Velvet green, dove blue, SWR… all excellent options and all look especially nice paired with the BFGs on the silver/white rim. I found a photo of a grey SC y’all did, went to OR then sold to an Aussie in 14. Great looking truck. There’s a yellow/white SC on the Samba that looks pretty stellar too. Gots me some drinkin and thinkin to do…

I got Johnny back on the stripping and blasting.. there’s gonna be some rust repair to do.. but not bad.. Gates are full of pin holes!!!!! Once it is all blasted… I will make a metal order for it.

yup.. gates included… someone has already done some welding on the gates.. I hope it’s good enough to not redo.. but well see… 😎TyHParticipantAugust 27, 2017 at 7:33 pmPost count: 10
Yes another single cab build, I’ll be watching this one for sure.
If the light grey was the original color it’s actually not a bad color at all and wouldn’t hesitate to repaint it that if it were mine. Or maybe SWR if you want to change it up, dove blue is a great color but seems like 88% are blue.

I agree!!!!!bThe grey does look nice and subtle and easy low maintenance color.TyHParticipantAugust 27, 2017 at 7:49 pmPost count: 10

Absolutely John, it’s a great color that in person really looks nice, very subtle indeed until you pull into a VW show and all of a sudden your subtle light grey SC stands out big time. I definitely vote for light grey but it’s not mine and I’m sure whatever color it ends up being will look good.Paul SextonParticipantSeptember 3, 2017 at 11:45 amPost count: 87
Waffling between the original light grey and the SWR… Finally got the two tone white over yellow out of my skull.John JonesKeymasterSeptember 5, 2017 at 7:15 amPost count: 5841
SWR is an awesome color… stands tall… Truck is ready for blasting… Parts re done and in the dirty… But… the Barndoors seem to be sucking up all our time. I’d say I started a bit early.. but that OK.. after SLC show.. I will be railing on this… 🙂 🙂John JonesKeymasterSeptember 7, 2017 at 7:44 amPost count: 5841
Cleaning up tranny and suspension… Going to reuse that tranny.. and we will go through the front end and rebuild what needs it.Paul SextonParticipantSeptember 8, 2017 at 4:12 amPost count: 87
Looking good! Happy that the mechanicals are serviceable. Those BDs are looking great. Y’all have fun at the SLC show.John JonesKeymasterSeptember 20, 2017 at 9:58 amPost count: 5841
Johnny finished up gates yesterday… The truck itself is about to roll into the booth…. LOTS of love will be needed on these awesome gates…. 😉John JonesKeymasterSeptember 20, 2017 at 3:38 pmPost count: 5841

Outstanding!! Lots of Bondo dust I’m sure. First time the little truck has been, “rust free and proud”.Master BlasterParticipantSeptember 21, 2017 at 2:38 pmPost count: 33

No doubt. I’ll be interested myself to see what the “abrasive cleaning” uncovered.John JonesKeymasterSeptember 26, 2017 at 7:53 amPost count: 5841
the bottom of the gates look more like swiss cheese than metal….. You can buy new gates.. Probably $3500 or so… But thats over a weeks work.. I might be able to do something with them in 2 weeks time… and they will be og to the bus. 😉
