Paul is it safe to assume we are just gonna clean up your tranny and motor down to the long block clean up and reassemble kinda thing??
I wondering on Stance…. The look.. BFG”s? or something more stock??
BD’s seem to be sucking up much time… It will be my baby soon..8-)Paul SextonParticipantAugust 17, 2017 at 3:55 amPost count: 87
Thank you for researching the OG paint. Grey is out. Not especially a fan of the white over yellow either. Maybe a different stock color. Still a little time left to decide.Paul SextonParticipantAugust 17, 2017 at 4:02 amPost count: 87
Spot on with the engine/tranny. Figure I can always swap up later. Stock stance. BFGs? Are those tires, or a reference to my last wife?PeteParticipantAugust 17, 2017 at 5:50 amPost count: 907
Sealing Wax Red is a good color choice. JJ will push for Dove Blue. 🙂 Both were options for your truck year. If you want to give a nod to your dad Postal Yellow was a special order option, and trucks painted that color would have come with black bumpers, rims, emblems, etc. instead of silver white.
BFG’s are BF Goodrich All Terrain tires. They have an aggressive tread pattern and look great on stock height type II’s.John JonesKeymasterAugust 17, 2017 at 7:29 amPost count: 6708
I wouldn’t rule out the grey…. it’s nice… original and clean looking. Dove blue is always a winner… 😎
BFG’s rock.. they are good quality tires that last and work! Mud terrains are my favorite.. like the pamper has, BBOE has etc. Franz has the same style on his camper too, Chads high roof, and both of Kevins SGPG campers too…
I want to start making progress on this again this week!!!!!!! damnit!!!BBWBParticipantAugust 17, 2017 at 8:02 amPost count: 835
Check out General AT Grabbers. I have those on my bus now. Like them more than the BFGs I had before. On the color, is Velvet Green an option?

Velvet green is pretty awesome color… creamy green.. like dove blue is creamy blue.. So your “Old Man” is going to be driving it?? Probably should keep it all stock even tire size… so it’s a bit easier for him to get in and out of.. Maybe even slightly lowered if he is into that?FranzKeymasterAugust 17, 2017 at 10:00 amPost count: 3629FranzKeymasterAugust 17, 2017 at 10:05 amPost count: 3629Paul SextonParticipantAugust 17, 2017 at 5:03 pmPost count: 87
Velvet green, dove blue, SWR… all excellent options and all look especially nice paired with the BFGs on the silver/white rim. I found a photo of a grey SC y’all did, went to OR then sold to an Aussie in 14. Great looking truck. There’s a yellow/white SC on the Samba that looks pretty stellar too. Gots me some drinkin and thinkin to do…

Yes another single cab build, I’ll be watching this one for sure.
If the light grey was the original color it’s actually not a bad color at all and wouldn’t hesitate to repaint it that if it were mine. Or maybe SWR if you want to change it up, dove blue is a great color but seems like 88% are blue.

I agree!!!!!bThe grey does look nice and subtle and easy low maintenance color.TyHParticipantAugust 27, 2017 at 7:49 pmPost count: 18

Absolutely John, it’s a great color that in person really looks nice, very subtle indeed until you pull into a VW show and all of a sudden your subtle light grey SC stands out big time. I definitely vote for light grey but it’s not mine and I’m sure whatever color it ends up being will look good.Paul SextonParticipantSeptember 3, 2017 at 11:45 amPost count: 87
Waffling between the original light grey and the SWR… Finally got the two tone white over yellow out of my skull.John JonesKeymasterSeptember 5, 2017 at 7:15 amPost count: 6708
SWR is an awesome color… stands tall… Truck is ready for blasting… Parts re done and in the dirty… But… the Barndoors seem to be sucking up all our time. I’d say I started a bit early.. but that OK.. after SLC show.. I will be railing on this… 🙂 🙂
