Got it running sweet. I had too much accelerator pump nozzle at 65 is was spraying so much fuel that you could hear the engine knock from the fuel taking up too much space in the combustion chamber.

Back to a 50 accelerator nozzle and it’s great. I also drilled the idle jet for 5/64” to try and get some fuel in the engine at low RPM (almost no vacuum due to the vz15 cam) 150 main jet seems good, may have to go up a size in california.

It doesn’t idle very well, loading up on fuel. I think it’s because the throttle plate is open past the idle jet progression ports. I am wondering if I can drill a hole in the throttle plate to allow more air in, and adjust the idle speed screw back to where the progression ports are closed.

I don’t know. It’s hard to find information on this setup.

Hello all, long time lurker here.

I had a similar problem on a set of webers on a datsun. The progression holes got opened to early. We did tryΒ  drilling holes in the throttle plate which did help some, but eventually I made new throttle plate with a different resting angle. It was some trial and error but it worked ok in the end. To made this you need a mill and a lathe which I think you have. But first try with drilling a hole.

I did use the same setup to make plates for drilled (enlarged) carbs.

Eugene! Welcome!Β  Thanks for the good description and pics..

I drove it around a little yesterday after I got it done done… Seating brakes and just driving it… Drives awesome.. Maybe could use a tiny bit more acc pump… when you switch into third, which won’t be often… 😎  You gotta make sure you roll into it… but… if you don’t keep it revved… it’s ofcourse worse and you end up back in second..Β  It seems fine…. I just gotta keep her in second most the time… I’ll be shifting this bitch!!!!

Love it, Love it, Love it!!!!Β  Β This is how I envisioned my car from the get go!Β  I feel really good about it!!!Β  Proud of it!!!Β  Can’t wait to do a few laps!!!

Thanks Eugene, drilling a .210 hole in the throttle plate did the trick.

I was able to close the throttle fully and adjust the idle mixture screw correctly. Which allowed more fuel on the low end, I had to dial the jetting back to a 120 idle and 140 main.

Got 14mpg the first haul, and 12.5 the second πŸ‘πŸ» Not bad for a racing toterhome 😏 added the towing weight reinforcement strap also… it was a little bouncy

The throttle cable was stuck wide open just before Fruita… There was ice and maybe some gunk in a few spots… Travis who used to work across the street apparently, saw us in the city market parking lot and brought us a torch! JJ had to clear all that out and we ended up swapping the cable too πŸ‘πŸ»

It was fucking cold, but thank goodness for the buddy heater – and the pamper is running GREAT now. Sorry, I mean the Toterhome 😎

Those passes between Junction and Salina are gas mileage killers for sure. Pretty sure that was were my engine started melting last summer. πŸ™‚
