So Scott, My question for you. Do you still charge your 2004 rate for your band gigs? If you do, kudo’s to you. But I doubt you are.

As John stated, I retired the band a few years ago. And yes, I was joking. However, we were killing it in 2004 so maybe those prices would still be legit in today’s market! I am still in the music business and I am busier than I ever was with the band. I’m doing 10-12 gigs a week these days. It is absolutely crazy how many events I am doing right now. And it’s not just weekends. Everyday. Two today (Sunday) and a corporate event on Monday. I don’t even have time to drive my cars let alone work on them.

    I figured you were. Hope I didn’t offend, wasn’t my intent. 🙂

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

Not at all, Ben. It takes a  lot to offend me. Actually, it might be impossible. Except when Franz and John asked if I was a sport bike rider when they first met me. WTF!

I’m still unsure of the next move on this one..   It’s sitting nice and happy front and center in the dirty!!!

I know what I would do if it was mine… which is generally what the customer wants… till a Kitchen remodel jumps in the way…. 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎

Sorry Brendan… Man I hope you win the lottery or something this week.. 😎

I just remembered you still have two front doors, two cargo doors and a rear hatch and engine lid and apron to work on too…   And your trans is ALL apart and rebuilt center section in the clean shop..  Looks like we had plans to make it at least a roller at one point if we tore into that.?.  And your old crusty beam.. spring plates, covers, and hardware resto to put all that together..

Seal everything, body work the outside, velvet green blend… some sanding and buffing time…  Tear the beam apart and restore and install, new center pin and bushings,  new brakes and all….. Blast and paint axle tube and reducs… new bearings throughout and assembly… and in the bus… new trans mounts and such while there, new brakes..    Then work on all the parts and get them matching the body…   Next questions.. how much?  about $85 an hour… 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎  Sounds like a few weeks worth the work to me…   another 12K plus???  😎

That sounds like the most logical plan to me.

    Hey guys,

I’m really happy with the results, when I first started, I really had no idea what the cost would be, but I was on a budget and maybe that’s where my expectations and KCW expectations differed, dunno.  As we went through the project we both discovered more rust than expected and I appreciate you guys, the artists that you are, didn’t take any shortcuts and cut that shit out of there!  My bad for buying a bus site unseen and shipping it to you without really knowing what it would take to get it where it is today.  Point being is I should have planned better and with the kitchen remodel starting in a few weeks, I gotta save the rest I have for any unforeseen costs that may come up.   Would love for you guys to continue with the project, but I understand that it’s not feasible to just put it on hold until I get funds again.  Wish I lived down the street, and could bring it back to you when I am ready again.  So moral of the story is, thanks for the learning experience guys and doing business with you.  I’m sure when this bus is finished and I’m driving it, and people ask where the work was done, I can brag about solid work being done by the guys at KCW!

Thanks Brendan… We do try hard…

The cost to do a resto has reached levels that I feel are not sustainable for a new VW person…   I need to really really educate new customers going forward… Although it’s getting so old trying to get through the process,  I really don’t want any new customers..  😎 😎 😎 I say let’s just keep the one’s going we already built… 😎 😎   We have built a ton of rides!

We will get the beam back in for you, and just so I don’t have any problems this time with the shipper you chose… I will try and have all your stuff prepacked up before the shipper gets here.  😎  Last time I dealt with that guy… what a mess.. He showed up a few days early, and left before everything was loaded!!! Cost me over $500 in shipping costs, and did little for my customer relations.. 😎  very little. 8-(

Be best if we can find a core trans out back to slap in your bus… and your shipper guy can just exchange a core with us?  I am not crazy about the idea of him trying to do all that shit out back in the heat and what not.. know what I mean?  We will have it on the lift anyway to get the dolly out from under it.

    Thanks for everything.

Working on Toms bus yesterday looking over at your bare metal.. and thinking… I can’t let that leave like that… If I do no more work, The second it leaves the dirty shop the project will start going backwards.  Bare hands touching bare metal means oil on the metal and re blasting.  Hell, if it isn’t stored somewhere super super dry, the interior will start to rust.  Dash, pedestals, floor… all bare metal… clean, virgin, white bare metal…

I know I said the most logical step is getting this into paint..  but we should do whatever we can to protect what has been done… Let’s put a few more days into this rig….. 😎  just a few… 😎  What do ya think? 😎

Any update?  Still in the Dirty shop…. 😎   if you don’t have transportation set up yet…  I would love to work on it again.. Just saying… if you want it….

    if not…

There is still a ton of loading and removing of a dolly, installing a beam, spring plates, torsions, wheels and tires….  No shipper in their right mind is going to volunteer to do all that work…. 😎  😎  I hate it when shit has to leave part way through process… 8-(

    I need a direction please…. 😎

Dirty shop is clean dry storage at the moment. 8-(
