Are those weights on the outside lip?Lone StarParticipantMarch 19, 2020 at 2:01 pmPost count: 228Scott SainParticipantMarch 19, 2020 at 2:15 pmPost count: 294sledParticipantMarch 21, 2020 at 8:05 amPost count: 17
the wheels in the photos above are regular “deep 6” wheels, not 7R’s. Like you say Franz, 7R’s are a very tight fit in an early beetle!
Thanks for the info. I measured 7 inches across, so I just thought they were the 7R wheels.
just for anyone else that is curious (and I know most of you know this), wheels are measured inside the lips, where the tire bead will seat. You’re correct if you pull a tape across the outside these wheels will read 7″ but inside only 6″.
7R’s are very rare and can easily be distinguished by their unique barrel shape as seen here…FranzKeymasterMarch 21, 2020 at 10:18 amPost count: 3914
Man, they barely look different. Deep 6″ will fit better anyways.
Do you have some 7r?Lone StarParticipantMarch 21, 2020 at 2:58 pmPost count: 228
USPS sent me a text that something showed up today. Did it, Franz.? More stuff should be showing up next week.FranzKeymasterMarch 22, 2020 at 6:28 amPost count: 3914
Yeah got it. But I don’t remember the ad saying anything about the chrome being messed up?sledParticipantMarch 22, 2020 at 9:16 amPost count: 17

I did, but sold them like an idiot. Oh well thats being a responsible adult I guess 🙄
and yes 6’s will fit a LOT easier. A 7R has the additional inch of width added to the inside of the wheel, so they require big spacers on a VW.FranzKeymasterMarch 23, 2020 at 5:22 pmPost count: 3914
Luggage rails arrived smashed. I know a guy that is good with a hammer & dolly.FranzKeymasterMarch 24, 2020 at 7:31 amPost count: 3914
Yeah it has the clips. Maybe early body? 54?JohnnybarndoorParticipantMarch 24, 2020 at 9:29 amPost count: 75
What’s the body number I’d love to see how close it it to ours, or if you don’t share that I totally understand, and ours has no clips or nutsert’s for luggage railsFranzKeymasterMarch 24, 2020 at 9:31 amPost count: 3914
We’re missing the tag. So I have no idea what year it really is.JbParticipantMarch 24, 2020 at 11:06 amPost count: 650
Trippy. Early oval cabrios saw more leftover split or zwitter parts than sedans it seems.FranzKeymasterMarch 25, 2020 at 1:40 pmPost count: 3914
Wheels and steering tube arrived today.Lone StarParticipantMarch 25, 2020 at 10:47 pmPost count: 228
Since Dallas county has issued “shelter-in-place ordinance, I have plenty of time to search the internet. So more parts should be showing up next week.
Every one stay safe….FranzKeymasterMarch 26, 2020 at 8:48 amPost count: 3914
Thanks for stocking us on shop towels with that wheel shipment. 🙂FranzKeymasterMarch 26, 2020 at 9:53 amPost count: 3914
Empi parts are here. We’re going to work on the pan, so that the body can get bolted down, and convertible top fit.
Any news from Jason on the rest of the parts?FranzKeymasterMarch 26, 2020 at 10:23 amPost count: 3914
Maybe a hair early for the car…but better than late.
