Utah is cold as a witches tit this time of yearβ¦.
just got home and thinking of my next road trip!!! Β I love driving my bus!!!
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
Next camp out is in the swell!! Β I need to go back and find the dates.. ππ»ππ»ππ».
looking forward to it!
Dan you in?? Β You love off-road!

Camp out starts March 16, but welcome to join in on the 17th. Driving the black dragon wash on the 17th starting around noon. It will have some challenging spots but if you give Jason Smurthwaite a wink he just may tug you on up. I suspect shovels, maxtrax and rock stacking will also happen along this trail. Canyon has a lot to offer as far as views are concerned so come have an adventure. Base camp in the swell will be decided on soon.
HERES’s paper work!!!!!!
OH cool.. a wash!!!Β I guess I should bring my 1/5 scale sand rail!!! … π
Proud and Stubborn ππ»

https://maps.app.goo.gl/qHCfs1AfA9HMYbVE8?g_st=icletβs go with thisβ¦ if we all decide to change it up while there, then weβll change.
I definitely wonβt be picking on any buses, plenty of seat time in stock 2wd split buses in the swell. Owner of buses are fair game though π
Just popped the new old engine in the bus last nightπ€πΌ
Iβll try and figure out where that isβ¦π§π§π§π§π§. I guess Iβll need some sort of Β GPSβ¦. ππππππππππππππππ
What kind of motor is that? Β That poor busβ¦. Β From the bottom upβ¦.
Jetta vanagon split bayI wonder how it identifies πππππππππ
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
Unfortunately I was not able to add another atrocity to the list of awful things Iβve done to this bus π I decided to give the vanagon engine another shot, so itβs just another 2.1L waterboxer. Vanagon/split/bay.
I will be sending Christine the coordinates so she can help Paul figure out how to get there, maybe caravan from junction.
Right now Iβd say it identifies as an ice cube.
πππππ»ππ»ππ»ππ». Iβm excited! Β Iβve been to some parts of the swell but not black dragon area..
Are we moving along the trail each day and camp trail side / close and keep going the next day? Β Shasta style? Or is the trail short? Like an Ottinger tour? Β Camp at the same place each night and do different trails each day and return to the same spot??
Has waynerβs balls hardened back up enough to come out with us???ππππβ€οΈβ€οΈπ€«πππ. Heβs always fun! Β And usually has two or three other busses with him!Proud and Stubborn ππ»
Iβm asking all these questions cause Iβm trying to keep your camp out at the top of the listππππ on my forums!! Β Maybe if we can answer enough unknowns for people maybe more will show up!!ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
I talked to Dan and Paul, I think weβll be caravanning together ππ»ππ»ππ»
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
where are you guys going ? bring some chains and maybe a snow shovel
the snow hasnt stopped falling yet.
which will make this trip even more fun!
Itβll be fine by then!!
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
I mean we donβt really have a set plan. I maybe should get better at this, usually being just me my wife and my kids on these trips we just go out and see what happens while we are there.
The loose plan is to make it to camp on Thursday, drink some Guinness have some fire, maybe shoot some cans. Friday drive the wash. Saturday maybe check out some other stuff? Iβve wanted to see how the buses do on the devils racetrack. Unfortunately Jason still has a photo shoot with his bus in April and doesnβt want to risk roughing it up too much so the racetrack may be next time.
There May be snow, or it may be 80* early spring in Utah might give us both on the same day.
