53 beetle in for engine noise. The owner said it sat 8 years, then started again and made noise. I’m thinking bad fuel varnished the intake valves and stuck them on the guides.
Sat for 8 years???? Hopefully not in the present owners garage! 😀 😀
Badass little car. Its got all the right stuff including zwitter type ashtray and speedometer.
I don’t have any extra 25hp heads. I hope these can be fixed. The piston has a mark, but not enough to justify replacement.
Dan’s notch in for some new fuel hose. Seems like we get 2-3 years out of the new rubber before modern fuel dries it out enough to crack.
If you have a aircooled VW, do yourself a favor and check your fuel lines this weekend. The cold weather usually makes the rubber brittle and more likely to fail.
How the beam doing with the brass?
I want to switch my turd to that set up.
Great. I like the brass bushings beams. Million mile setup. The only complaint I have is that they are noisier. You can hear the road and suspension more.
Yeah. You just need the bushings?
I’d like a new beam. I know you get the brass from McMastercarr. But I want shocks too. The beam you built me 13 years ago is too narrow to retro fit shocks to.
Ill do the torsions and tie rod part. Just like a wider beam with shocks and no hammer low.
Peet’s been knocking out the dude’s list…. Last item going in today… Get this thing back home to Denver…
What a cool parkway project… OG 53 beetle… Bad head.
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
so many awesome projects at the spa. lot of luck folks!
Beatrice in for a transaxle rebuild. 1963.5 one ton 1500cc bus….It has small nut axles and link pins with late brakes. Eight bearings in the reduction gear boxes showed moderate wear. Best to start fresh.
Quit using that braided stuff and go to sae rubber fuel line with clamps if you want it to last more than a couple years.
