Made good progress on spindles yesterday. New bushing in, reamed, and notches filed.
Phenolics fit as well.
All back together this morning.
Bit of scraping/cleaning before assembly. One side down.
We will build it if it comes.
gotta catch these parkway projects up.. 😎 I imagine they are about done for the year though.. 😎
All work and no play makes JJ a dull boy🤣
Keeping a lid on it😎
Attitude is everything 🤔
I ordered tie rod from CB Performance a while ago. I know they take a little time to process/ship orders….I hope they arrive in the next few days so that I can send this Java 67 home.Got word that CB Performance shipped the parts today.
Original 67 seat belts would ratchet tighter and tighter with every bump. Not sure if they are broken or that is the design? Replaced with non-retractable lap belts.
67 only apron plug is like $15 from WW. Very important for summer time over-heating problems.
Cleaned and installed the original oil bath air cleaner with new pre-heat hoses.
Air Force 1 is here for a disc brake conversion, new tie rods, new starter, rear suspension adjustment….and whatever else I can find.
Bosch Mexico starter is pricey. I feel better about the quality.Starters… Yeah, I am with Franz on the bosch starters… pricey, but worth it.. 😎
Beetle one 1!!!! 😎

Attitude is everything 🤔Yep, the rear brakes are shot. See the fluid and rust under the boot?
The rear suspension is crappy too. The bushings are beat….which probably caused the torsion cover to crack.
Super beetles always have sagging rear suspension. I took this apart to re-index to torsion bars back to stock ride height…I added 5 degrees ~ 1.250” lift.
damn…. beetle one needed some lovin!! 😎 😎 😎
Pats putting an engine together for a local today!!! Parkway stuff… Gettin done!!!

Attitude is everything 🤔Been busy the last couple days working on Rina’s ‘74 super. We pulled the motor a while back and shipped it off to Painters for a rebuild.
Blasted, repaired, epoxy sealed and painted all of the engine tin on Wednesday.
Same, same on the exhaust bits.
We will build it if it comes.
Stacked it up yesterday. Need to order a carb and some other bits to finish up before break in.
All stock 1600DP.
We will build it if it comes.
Bret’s August of ‘66 beetle is next on the parkway list.
Bret’s dad worked at, Jesse Boyce VW, the local dealership in Grand Junction for a long time.
He buttered the bread a bit before dropping the car off. . OG manuals, couple in German even.
This jack is cool!!! We need one.
Anyone speak German? Found this had written several time’s in one of the manuals.
We will build it if it comes.
