Buses at the Brewery is still a thing, though I haven’t had any involvement in it the past several years.  I’m hoping to have a Bus on the road and participate this year.

Busses at the Brewery around 2011 was my first VW event and the drive there was the first time I had ever driven a split window bus!!  John was hauling ass through the canyons and I was scared to death! haha  good shit!..  If we all roll over again we should meet in delta and drive HWY 92 over to Blue Mesa. Couldn’t find any dates for this year though.

I wish more VW folks would bring their stuff out to Non VW specific car shows for better representation (also new/different market if your in a business) .  The Gunnison car show is fantastic and in a beautiful venue.

    John,

Not Colorado related, but are you guys planning on going to the Utah Classic show in September.   I’m thinking of making that my annual road trip in my bus.

Something Random…    NOT picking on anyone or any project.  Just comparing..  Haven’t had projects to compare like this… Not trying to hurt ANYONE’s feelings, 0r dog or diss..  This is all just facts… 😎  Which project was the most efficient??

Since both “Tom’s” have 26 weeks of work in them, 26 weeks of logs.. I wanted to compare the projects a little…  Dan’s tesla.. wow stale as bread left out side in the sun!!!!  But we have been waiting on parts with the tesla project…

Started 66 sunroof Tom about 6 months ago, done.. 😎  26 weeks is about 6 months…   😎  Not much “Stale time” on this project!!  😎 😎 😎 Perfect!

Started 23 window Tom about a year ago now..   26 weeks of logs,  means 26 weeks of “stale time”  8-(

Started Dan’s almost three years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   36 weeks of logs..  so  about 120 weeks of stale time..  8-(

Now..  Without throwing out numbers..  All these projects have “approximately” the same amount of time and materials in them… I’m no paper work book keeper or nothing..

    Thinking while I work..8-)

Maybe I under estimated The beetle..  I guess it’s been more like 8-9 months..  and Beetles are the simplest builds, we all know and acknowledge that..8-)  There were a few weeks of stale time.

    So.. Tom’s 66 is done…. wooooooohoooooo

Toms Deluxe, well, it’s close.. and it of course it takes longer to build a deluxe bus than a beetle… 😎 😎

Dan’s tesla..  Well, it’s of course going to be the most complicated and expensive build ever..  and the most modern, most horsepower, biggest brakes, ONE of a kind…  and that Franz motor mount…  Fuck that is bad ass fab work..!!

I’m still charging $85 an hour.. which is less than Kia mechanics charge…  8-( 8-(

So…  I guess it all sounds pretty logical… 😎   These build have gotten so expensive,  like I have said.. I think starting a shop like mine would be unsustainable right now…   No other shop has less overhead than I do..   and I’m not getting rich over here…. 😎 😎 😎

    Unless you get “LUCKY” I guess… 😎 😎 😎

The common man’s car has gotten super expensive in the 30+ years I have played with them. Plus most of these cars have had a rough life. Thank goodness for businesses making great reproduction metal and such. Unless you have the skills, tools and time you still gotta pay a skilled VW guy to weld it in, body work it, then paint it. Paint materials have sky rocketed as well. Hell, a trans rebuild for a simple bug straight axle is hovering between $1200 to $1500 now.

My mini truck cost me over double what the Smuggler did in 2006.  It was well worth it in my eyes since I have the nicest short bus on the planet. No other shop would have taken on that project, not to mention the attention to detail from all those who were involved. I can’t thank you enough for letting me help a bit, but for also making my dream a reality.

I guess talking about how much shit really cost and KCW not taking on new work makes for very little conversation 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫

I was thinking yesterday I should change the name of the Thursday Club to the $100K club🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫
