For how much we quoted Talladega Nights before Baja we really missed the most important warning from the movie… haha
“We’d like to urge you not to visit Tiajuana” haha
Here are some more photos from a Baja photographer. We tracked down the photographer that was on mikes hill at like midnight when Peet and I were givin er hell! Good team shot! Good lookin crew. I think pat k was on a beer run… haha starting wash! So fresh and so clean!big step up on mikes hill that you don’t have any room to get a run at. It’s right around a switchback. Took Peet and I a couple tries to get it. Peet was out of the car at this point, showing me lines and whispering sweet nothings to me through the handheld radio hahaBAAAAJJJJJAAAAA! So awesome
Nice pictures… I bet that was freakin awesome!!!! 😎 Gonna do any races before the 1000?? maybe some SNORE stuff?
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
Maybe a rally/safari porshe?? Haha desert racing is so cool!
Check this link out:
Nice Cole. Thats like a 911 class 11. Did you see their military hummer chase rig.
BORA would be the easiest race series for us to enter. They are all held in Utah….hmmmm I know of a few guys with baja bugs…
I can’t image all the fun you guys had ! Keep at it
fucking awesome
….but we’ve got our hands full with SCORE. Especially if we’re going to do the 1000.
Painter’s should have the busted transaxle today.
I think we should keep the 4.37 ring and pinion. Then get new heavy duty main shaft and hardened 1st gear. Make it bulletproof.
How about the diff? Solid aluminum spool would be the same as the welded. Or we can go with the expensive limited slip type. I think the limited slip would be better for 1st gear and axle/drum spline life.

Video that I stole the clips from:
Team Solorzano posted a video of baja 500 that showed them swapping a transaxle somewhere early in the race. Mile 70 or so. I remember them passing us at mile 165 while we were changing the transaxle.
A few interesting things I noticed. A stock type 12 gallon fuel tank( I assume they are grandfathered in) with a large diameter vent, and what appears to be a 3rd shock reservoir? See it mounted low in the apron. WTF is going on? Do they have some fancy shock valving hidden in those giant reservoirs? Maybe the 3rd unit is a fuel filter or swirl pot for the fuel system? I gather they had a second engine but choose not to use it?
Franz I have two trannys with these diffs. One is a Quaiffe (swing axle) and one is a Peloquin (IRS). I have not installed them in cars yet. My friends have had great success drag racing with them. I can’t wait to try mine. I say this is the way you should go.

This tracked us on course to r.m.320. We took the out on paved road to Colonet, then north up the 1 to the casa on the point, then north to Ensenada
This is the Esparza’s route. No doubt these guys are BADASS! It took them 29 hours to finish the race. We started with these guys and congratulated them on the finish when they crossed. To me these guys won. They did a trans rebuild the night before, rolled 3 times and hit every vcp
This is Viry Felix route. She was the only car to finish, and winner of the Baja 500. No one else to contest it. Whats really going on?
That looks very fishy indeed!
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.
I was looking at everyone’s race course. Ours look pretty good in comparison. We made mistakes for sure. Its tough to think clearly at 4am..after 3 days of pre-running…after 2 days of travel. Baja was intense and a test in every form. I feel like we failed thinking we could conquer baja as a rookie team on our fist effort. With a little more planning and time I think we can do better. All things considered, I’m proud of our race GPS map.
