Ditch the heavy heater boxes and use the Autonomous cabin diesel air heater Eberspacher Airtronic D4 12V with installation kit and digital controller Easy Start Select 8 hours on less than a gallon of fuel . Alternative heat is key.. Add an extra battery and battery isolator for the max output. Stay well glad your getting better and moving around take care.

seems to be the answer I am looking for huh…  I am still a little hung up on defrost though… Hey Wayner, are you running empty 1 1/2’s, or empty 1 5/8’s??     I’d like to stick with the 1 1/2 header I already have…  But not if it isn’t gonna be enough..

I need to do some research.. but why does everyone push the diesel heater over the gas??  Seems smart to stick with one fuel type? install a bay tank, that gives me like 5 more gallons!!! 😎

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

Diesel is safer and more reliable. Won’t start your traditional gasoline fires. Save the gasoline for your road trip miles. Real easy to monitor diesel 1 gallon fuel tank and safer to store that fuel then gasoline in a military Jerry can . FYI Jerry cans are just for diesel and kerosene. Gasoline Big boom. 1 1/2 for 2.0 and smaller. 1 5/8 for 2.0 and larger if ya got the room and head work ect.

    Diesel smells better too. 😉

The 1 5/8” heater boxes are only available with elements….which we think is half of the problem with overheating.

im running the empty 1.5” and both heater boxes feed the center tube and force it all up front. The heat is “warm” and more than enough warm air to keep the windshield clear. The diesel heater is very efficient and puts out tons of heat with very little current draw once glow plug cycle has completed for initial fire up. Yes, you need a extra fuel can for diesel, I have a 2 gallon can and it’s more fuel than I’ve ever needed on a trip. I also have a bay tank to go the extra mile and used to have a Stewart Warner heater, it didn’t fit with the dual carb setup. I think the diesel trumps the heat output/efficiency and its like $120 for a brand new unit. After that adding the afterburner controller a guy makes in Australia adds to the features and functions of the diesel heater making it something that was a game changer for the cold weather camping. First time I used the heater with the uta guys in the west desert, night temps dropped to 7° And I was nice and toasty all night while everyone else froze using the little buddy heaters…even their bread and water had froze. After that trip everyone was drinking the diesel heater koolaid. They are truly awesome and one of the things I’ve added and love the most…something everyone wanting to winter camp should have.

If wayner is running 1 1/2’s and running cool… I am gonna try and do the same.. My cc’s are coming down slightly.. doing the thick 92’s this time..

I have a hard time trusting a 120 dollar heater from China…. no one has had any failures???  I want one!!!  I guess I will do the diesel one also..  THANKS for all the input…. 😎

I saw this on a bus for sale on Samba. It had a gas-powered Airtop Webasto installed and they hid the thermostat controller in the ashtray. Pretty sick!

I had a big debate with a guy at BBB one year about super diffs. I’m running one in my IRS trans, have had no trouble, and he was using one in a swing axle; and had trouble with axles and fulcrums. He believed that the extra spiders slung the gear oil outward in the axles and can’t flow back into the trans case at high speed, because of the diff speed and extra two spiders. This causes the axle ends and fulcrums to run pretty dry. I don’t know if this is true or not but makes since.

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

I absolutely believe this… that super diff’s wear out axles and fulcrums…  Which Ben does not have…   Your tranny does not drain down the tubes….

Good posts in this thread on modifying a super differential for better oiling (and says the same thing Ben did about starvation):
