Since the old thread is gone, thought I’d throw up a recap on my bus.

In the beginning.

Been a year next weekend that the Subaru engine went in. It’s been “stone cold” reliable in daily driver status in that time, with a good road trip to Havasu at BBB, in there for good measure. Going to Moab in the next few weeks. I don’t diss on VW engines at all(I know the “nakid, stroker” is alive and well in Dan’s Mango). The engine swap was just something in the back of my mind for years. It took Andy to give me the push I needed. Looking forward to the next chapter’s in my bus’ life.

Gotta give kcw and JJ a thanks for this too. Before the subi swap I talked to ben a time or 2 on the phone, then made plans to drive 14 hours to his place. No clue where or who he really was.  Spent 4 days at bens place, total strangers to great friends.

 

Its been a year? Dam it! I really wanted to come down for show and stay the for it all.

Just got home from the show. Sitting by the bus, BS’ing with a dude and hear my name during the awards. Got a top 20 award.

Also talked an old friend into a Subi swap in a water boxer. I get to do the work.

Got my oil changed and the bus gone over on Saturday. Then I started on a long delayed project for the makings of an awning/tent. Got the 60″ cross pieces welded in, in the afternoon. In the process I destroyed my drivers windshield with weld splatter.  😳  This morning I got some extenders cut and drilled. Good enough for now. I’ll finish the rest when I get back.
