Bubba! You’d definitely love this trip! Luckily there are multiple groups. If you don’t want to hang up front with JJ, Lou, Brian, Sarah and I, you can still be a part of the group and take things a bit slower. Shasta is definitely a bit of choose your own adventure! Which makes it even more epic. Franz and rusty need to do it too. If you like buses. You need to do Shasta. Sounds weird. But you become one with your bus by the end haha. You know all the noises and feelings and vibrations. You know exactly how your bus is feeling/doing. So cool. The first night I slept in a bed I couldn’t sleep! Separation anxiety from not being in my bus! Haha

 

thanks for that great write up Audrey! So cool to have Audrey on the trip. Cool to see a  father daughter team kick so much ass! It’s cool to have others along with us. Makes it even more fun. I don’t know if I’d have as much fun on a solo sst! Seth is my ultimate co pilot. Second year together he knows where things go. How we do shit. When to push and when to jump on the back! Haha Glad Will got to experience it too! And hot damn those photos he gets are amazing! Can’t wait for more camping with everyone! I had to decompress for a couple days and get used to normal life! I’ll try and do a write up about my trip today. Try to add onto Audrey’s awesome write up.

Im sure most people on the forum would love to do SST. I hope to do it some day. Maybe with Franz and Rusty on the trip? I know Jeff would dig it too.

For me this trip is much more than SST…  The trip to balker and Spencer are equally as important as the SST itself, for me…    That part of the trip is good download and full UNWIND of the brain stuff… yeah, we get crooked out there.. sideways crooked… but damn is it awesome… 😎   But only if your into it..   😎  😎  Even the stop at spencer on the way back is epic… marks the completion of another awesome trip!!!!!  TRIP!!!!!!!  😎  😎  😎

And just doing it regularly is a requirement in my VW based, VW shop owner, head..

Shasta is really something… JJ really knows how to handle an aircooled VW in some technical situations. I don’t think I’d feel as comfortable with anyone else behind the wheel. Needless to say, I think I’m an annual Shasta person now. I just have to figure out which vehicle to bring!

Love the pic of the water and the side shot of my bus! I need to get the high resolution versions and print them out for my house! Haha

 

I did the math and found out I did 3,348 miles this year! SLC-Baker-Spencer-Sarah’s-Rampage-Shasta-Mitch’s-Spencer-SLC-Spokane! One day of starting issues on SST(was a loose battery cable to starter), one points and condenser swap, one valve adjust in SLC, and one leaking valve cover gasket and I made it home safe. I’d say that was a success! Love my bus, love SST, love hitting the road and camping in buses!

Seth needs a bus! He loves driving. I have a hard time giving up wheel time… but I let him have a go at a bit of highway this year and a bit of dirt coming into the rampage spot! He’s hooked. Buses make people smile!

I wasn’t doubting whether they were great kids, just wondering how they were able to support their freestyle lifestyle….not that I should give a shit, really.
