Pete, You ever put any thought in checking out this show? http://www.euroautofestival.com/ VW is the marquee car this Year. Bit pricey to field a car but not bad if you check out all that’s included. It would be cool to see your Ghia on the golf course at Verdae greens though.

That looks like a good show….thanks for passing that along.

Pete, it’s a great show. My 65 won best paint mainly for my pin striping in 2011. We won a corporate award and were invited to the banquet and awards presentation. It was fun watching folks take pics of my VW as it sat in line with an original GT40 and a couple Lambo’s  as I was waiting to get registered . It is one of the few times you can field your VW with Million dollar euros and folks still admire them. I don’t think you would be disappointed.

Nice shot on the cooper river bridge Pete. I need to get back down their! Me and the wife luv getting a weekend their and eating at Hyman’s!

No sir! We will take you to a real restaurant! And it’s not the Cooper River Bridge anymore. It’s the Arthur Ravenel!

Sounds like fun Scott. I will definitely look you up next time we are down. Are you going to the Farm next month? I am almost certain to be there with my family.

Got some 6v LED brake/turn bulbs from http://www.culayer.com.  Flashers work with the same Wolfsburg West 6v flasher relay that powered the filament bulbs.  They’re spendy but worth it.

Yeah, that’s why I didn’t bother ordering any to replace the running lights. 🙂

On the plus side I feel slightly better about drivers behind me seeing brake lights, and should I ever convert to 12v these bulbs will still work.

Oh yes! I’ll be in the 11.90 (which is now a 9.90!) or the new Ghia I built. Hopefully both will be there!

The thin slot regulator looks crispy. Speedwell manifolds are nice too. I think you should consider Solex p11s on them, looks to be dual bolt pattern. I also have a Porsche fan shroud and linkage to run them seamlessly. We could paint it up silver like a super. Put some knetch punch plate air filters. Poor man’s Porsche. 😎

Thanks for posting pics!  Glad both got there.  I’m still guessing mid-January before Joe is done with the long-block.  I’m down for faking the funk if I can.  I’ll send this junk closer to time the motor arrives so it’s not in the way.

Awesome….thanks!  I’ll let you know when the long block ships.  Maybe a week?  I dunno if the holidays slowed things down but that was the time table I was last given.  I’ll get my box of parts out to you this week if I can.

Motor looks great Pete! Were you able to find you a case close to your ghia’s birthdate? I have never heard back from the purchaser of that 51! Would have loved to had that car or at least got the motor for your project!

Thanks! It’ll be nicer than the car it’s going in! 😀

It’s a May ‘58 motor, same month as my car. Not as close in numbers as the one your friend had….that was within 550….probably built on same day as my original. Would have been neat to build that one but I don’t stress at all about it.

    A little update….

Been in a holding pattern waiting on valves to be machined.  Clyde Berg replaced the valve seats to accept larger 33mm exhaust/35 intake valves, and he bored the heads for 80mm pistons (stock is 77mm).  Berg sump was chemical treated and installed.  I’m told once valves arrive (hopefully early next week) the long block can be finished in a day.

No urgency, but when you guys get chance could you let me know if everything UPS shipped made it ok?  They insisted on re-packaging it so I want to make sure nothing got left out.  Should be a dizzy, coil, linkage, Fram, oil lines, plug wires.  Thanks!
