Awesome….thanks! I’ll let you know when the long block ships. Maybe a week? I dunno if the holidays slowed things down but that was the time table I was last given. I’ll get my box of parts out to you this week if I can.Scott SainParticipantJanuary 2, 2018 at 6:42 pmPost count: 179
Woohoo! Get that heap over here to the Germanaire Motorlounge! That’ll be 5 Ghias over here!PeteParticipantJanuary 3, 2018 at 6:48 amPost count: 790JdawgParticipantJanuary 3, 2018 at 8:21 amPost count: 422

Motor looks great Pete! Were you able to find you a case close to your ghia’s birthdate? I have never heard back from the purchaser of that 51! Would have loved to had that car or at least got the motor for your project!PeteParticipantJanuary 3, 2018 at 10:36 amPost count: 790

Thanks! It’ll be nicer than the car it’s going in! 😀

It’s a May ‘58 motor, same month as my car. Not as close in numbers as the one your friend had….that was within 550….probably built on same day as my original. Would have been neat to build that one but I don’t stress at all about it.PeteParticipantJanuary 19, 2018 at 7:46 amPost count: 790
A little update….
Been in a holding pattern waiting on valves to be machined. Clyde Berg replaced the valve seats to accept larger 33mm exhaust/35 intake valves, and he bored the heads for 80mm pistons (stock is 77mm). Berg sump was chemical treated and installed. I’m told once valves arrive (hopefully early next week) the long block can be finished in a day.FranzKeymasterJanuary 19, 2018 at 8:32 amPost count: 2971
Joe’s details are over the top. This engine is going to be so pretty.PeteParticipantJanuary 26, 2018 at 7:16 pmPost count: 790
No urgency, but when you guys get chance could you let me know if everything UPS shipped made it ok? They insisted on re-packaging it so I want to make sure nothing got left out. Should be a dizzy, coil, linkage, Fram, oil lines, plug wires. Thanks!John JonesKeymasterJanuary 27, 2018 at 8:59 amPost count: 5841
I think I saw all of it Pete…. Franz opened it up and showed us the goodies..PeteParticipantJanuary 27, 2018 at 5:33 pmPost count: 790
Is that in May? Hope it’s done well before then. Opting for larger valves has been a big hold up, but the long block should be at KCW in two weeks.PeteParticipantJanuary 27, 2018 at 6:23 pmPost count: 790
Not that Franz needs any inspiration to do Franz things, but thought this was worth sharing. I like his linkage setup.Pat KKeymasterJanuary 30, 2018 at 10:00 amPost count: 1126

Is that a reproduction case? I see it has 1500 super on the case below the generator.
I doubt it…I don’t think 25/36’s are reproduced. Probably started its life as a NOS replacement case like this one:tlambertParticipantJanuary 30, 2018 at 8:14 pmPost count: 264PeteParticipantJanuary 31, 2018 at 6:17 amPost count: 790tlambertParticipantJanuary 31, 2018 at 8:15 amPost count: 264PeteParticipantFebruary 6, 2018 at 5:12 amPost count: 790
