Love the seamed gates.  Makes it look really original.  Good to see it coming together.

Things are getting better and better…. I beat the doors till they fit the hole…  I marked all the last spots that need something…  I’m working on the list now!  😎

I like that little tape note method to keep yourself organized.

Hey Pat, I never checked back in on whether you filled the hole that was drilled in the fresh air vent to hang a non-VW rear mirror?  Apparently earlier commercial trucks didn’t come with a rear view, so most people added a mirror similar to the other buses.  Mine had a mirror off something else, that I removed.  I have a VW repo that screws to the standard location, not the bottom of the vent. One less place to collect water and leak on the dash (I know the safaris will be the biggest source of leakage).

Yes Sr. that hole has been taken care of.

Cut open the backside of the engine lid mount yesterday. Broken nut cage and no nut plate that I could find or fish out with the magnet. A970069F-6006-43E7-8E43-02CCA123B037E6613BDA-7CD2-478C-BB71-60C914603BD1075BCCF7-B912-4B71-91FB-EF70257B2E90

Made a new nut plate and cage. 8D82EA28-84F6-4506-8E5B-09CDA3627E7807324AD6-4EE3-426A-B6B0-38A3E4754582

Looks great!  Is there a place where the old nut plate could escape during rollovers?  I ask because I know one existed, as I had a bolt in it previously. Probably doesn’t matter now, but wondering if it’s still in there.

I am hoping it fell out. 😎    Pats widdling away at the list of things to do before we start body work… I had to dig out the rain gutter the other day…. It had some serious hard seam sealer.. might have been mud.. hard to tell… but coated in there and hiding more surface rust,,, So I am gonna have Chris touch that up before I do any body work…..   Although.. I am going to do some pin work on the nose this morning..  😎
