Pat, up early and at it again. Great to see the rear straight and complete.John JonesKeymasterFebruary 18, 2019 at 2:48 pmPost count: 5134
I have been dragging my way through this door… but I completed it a few moments ago… YEAH.. Glad thats off the list…. bulkhead is about all that is left.. I think ALL the rust repair is done now… Bulkhead is more, metal replacement… 😎
I wanna get all the parts assembled back on the truck for a final fits… and hell… I might just body work them on the bus…. 😎mdubgParticipantFebruary 18, 2019 at 9:17 pmPost count: 273
Doors are looking good. Can’t wait to see the load bed separation panel in place and the shell being “whole” again.John JonesKeymasterFebruary 19, 2019 at 7:27 amPost count: 5134
I really dislike doors… 😎
I’m gonna get those doors on this rig today and beat em into shape… 😎 and make sure they fit in the holes… 😎John JonesKeymasterFebruary 19, 2019 at 1:34 pmPost count: 5134
they practically jumped back on the bus…. 😎mdubgParticipantFebruary 19, 2019 at 5:45 pmPost count: 273
Doors look good, but the stance is a little low 🙂Pat KKeymasterFebruary 20, 2019 at 11:39 amPost count: 968
Started back on this yesterday afternoon. Made a buck using Glenn’s SCab as a pattern for the bulkhead dimples.
Few love taps to get her there.
Stoked with how they came out!
Burned in the bed floor sections and bulkhead this morning. Finish grinding and working over folded edges to go.
Came across rear seat back mounts while digging out latches. Need to get them dissected and back on.
We will build it if it comes.mdubgParticipantFebruary 20, 2019 at 11:45 amPost count: 273
Amazing progress! Glad I saved those seat mounts from my dissection work. Dimples look good.John JonesKeymasterFebruary 20, 2019 at 12:29 pmPost count: 5134
shit is looking awesome… Pats kicking ass… I need to align them doors.. but they are on.. 😎 I’m betting we are rolling into some body work on this rig next week…. 😎 Mike… didn’t I see some Safari’s in your parts?? The tabs are in… but there were “extra” holes up there… so we welded them all up and need to re drill if your running them.. I love safari’s when it’s warm and dry…. 😎GlennmossParticipantFebruary 20, 2019 at 12:40 pmPost count: 137
Nice work! Those dimples look prime Pat!mdubgParticipantFebruary 20, 2019 at 1:26 pmPost count: 273
There are Safari frames in with the parts. I think they are Wolfgang’s as there was a very light shadow of a Wolfgang sticker in the corner of the drivers glass. The rest of the parts latches and dash tabs should be in with the parts (should be labeled). Let me know if not. I can look if I have them here.
Some of the screws for the safaris and pop-outs may need to be procured, as the previous ones where pretty rusty and/or had to be drilled and extracted.
I know safaris leak, but they are going to be a requirement in the Texas heat, so I do want to get them back on…with good seals.
Looking forward to seeing the body work!John JonesKeymasterFebruary 23, 2019 at 8:58 amPost count: 5134
started on final fits for this rig… Hanging parts on it…. One of the engine lid hinge nuts plates on the truck is GONE… 😎 I bet the cage that holds it is gone, and when it was flipped, it slipped out, it is now up in there somewhere… 😎 Pats gonna dig it out and fix it up next.. We’ll get those final fits done and roll into body work… I keep saying I am done body working and painting busses… but they just seem to keep showing up… 😎 😎 Good problem I reckon… 😎 Got your parts down… going through it making sure we have everything.. 😎
Had to get it out of the shop for a day… 😎John JonesKeymasterFebruary 23, 2019 at 8:58 amPost count: 5134
Gate fits are “OK”.. Well probably beat on em some more… 😎mdubgParticipantFebruary 23, 2019 at 10:16 amPost count: 273
Wow! Great to see it back together! You should have most of the parts, but there are going to be a some that’ll need to be procured (New rubber and seals for almost everything and a bunch of screws that were stripped or rusted for sure). I have the speedo and gas tank, probably need to start thinking about sending them your way.
