At the LA literature meet this morning and found this while rummaging through posters for sale. I recognize something about this poster…??
Franz had told me about a bay window bus around the corner from me…I finally got a hold of the owner who doesn’t want to sell…he owns several properties and businesses around town so I asked him if he knew of any VW busses that were for sell…He says one of his neighbors has an old split panel which he described as a “40’s” model…Best I can hope for would be early 50’s based on that and he says he only wants $1500. WE ARE PACKED UP GOING BUS HUNTING

Well…fuck…this guy must’ve known he was taking me on a wild goose chase. After what seems like 20 miles of dirt roads after getting to debeque we roll up on a pretty good size lot full of cars… I’m getting excited by then… He keeps saying “it’s all the way in the back, you’ll see it, it’s yellow” then the owner of the property shows up and starts talking about “how easy it will be to get a title blah blah blah…”? now im getting concerned… The guy who took me out there says “I don’t see it”, property owner says “yeah it’s right there…”
It’s a VW in the front but some kind of kit in the back… I’m sure he laughed when he saw the look on my face???
I guess I’m gonna keep hunting, would like to hold out for a split but an early bay would fill the void as well.
