That’s one awesome Chopper John???
Thanks.. I love it too… I hope to ride it more this year… 😎
Proud and Stubborn 👍🏻
Got a look at this beast today. Turns out, it’s a ’66 standard. Has the proper bucket seat and 2/3 front seats in the back. Also has a camper bed in it. Needs rockers, front floor pieces, and bulkhead is missing. All the normal stuff. Engine compartment is full, and I mean full of pack rat foliage and who knows what else. But all the major stuff is there minus bumpers. She said it never had them when she bought it. I got and offer in and It might be a go. She wants to think a few days. I told her I was not in it for a flip. That I would do it up proper. There was a sheet metal stove in a trailer next to the bus she was talking about wanting in her shop. I said I would get that delivered in addition to my offer. We’ll see. She said I would hear from her this week.
Me and the lady selling her bus both arrived at the same conclusion, I changed my mind about buying, and contacted her of my decision, and she said she decided to keep it. After I looked at it and made a few lists of parts it would need, I said to myself, “you got an airplane to build”. Better put the money towards that instead of a bus I don’t need. She told me when we were traveling back to Tucson after looking the bus over, she got all nostalgic and choked up seeing my bus on the drive home. I told her she has all the help she needs getting it back up and running.

Yep projects are a pain in the ass.
I didn’t know it was possible to pass on a Split!!!!! Damn Ben, you have some serious self control and focus!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Fun day yesterday moving a couple vehicles around with the family. We moved the 56 over to the warehouse and it was a COLD drive with no subhatch. Seeing 3 AWESOME buses with no interior, just sitting. Makes me sad! Hard to drive these when there is no subhatch.
I checked the motors on the 58 and 56 just to see what’s going on and both had fuel spilled out of the carbs on both sides of each motor. Anything I should do for this? Or is it because they’ve been sitting?
Also! We wanted to test the mango pulling the westy trailer and man is that a match made in heaven! So cool! Lola had so much fun. The mango pulled it pretty well. I’m excited to try it with the BBOE’s big motor when that comes back from kcw.
The mango has the right hitch and hella plug for it too. The lights weren’t working so well on the trailer so we will have to figure that out. Maybe try to get a hella trailer plug on the bboe too? Who knows. So fun! Technically you could sleep mom and dad in the mango, and Lola on the mango child cot up front. Then 4 others in the trailer! You could sleep our whole family if we could fit in the bus on the way there ?? can’t wait for camping this summer. Just need some interiors in the 3 westys. Man that’s going to be a cool caravan when all done ??

Beside the fact, the seller sort of backed out, I think it has to do with age Rusty. I got three major fun projects ahead of me now. Don’t think I could handle another. Notice I said fun projects. My wife and I want to spruce up the home after I retire, and she says I must do it before I go all out vagabond in my VW bus. 🙂

Looking good Bradburn’s. That trailer is sweet.
The fuel under the Webers is normal. They drip a little when shut off because the fuel hose absorbs some heat. Which causes the pressure to rise in the hose and fuel pushes past the valve in the carbs.
Cool, good to know. Thanks Franz!
Itll be a fun setup for sure!
That trailer looks like a mini house.. 😎 awesome guys!!! You know how the BBOE is gonna pull it… LIke a BOSS… 😎

On the look-out for original hitches to outfit the entire fleet with now?
I have a hitch that can be used with the BBOE’s bumper receiver. It’s aweird metric ball size. Just need to get a hella attachment for it. And fix the trailer wiring
I had the opportunity to see Gene’s amazing collection with my Dad in Connecticut today. Truly incredible.
They use this bullet single cab as a flower pot in the spring and summer! Or holds a Christmas tree in the winter.
