Hahaha man you were sucking dust! That car is whooped! But I’m sure it gave you some smiles! Air purification for you AND your motor looks key! Good thing floors are thin and they straighten easy!;)
WOW….that’s a helluva lot of wear for such a short outing! Considering how that carb looks, does the engine still have compression?
this is unbelievable ! Holy shit, banged up
sure looks fun
Repairs underway.
We will build it if it comes.
At least the taillights didn’t fall off 😆
car looks almost like my 67 underneath with a couple thousand miles on it. I can give you the numbers you need for the shock valving and torsion bar sizes. The car that started next to you uses latest rage bars and spring plates and seam to do fine. Either way you need bigger bars thicker spring plates shocks of the size you want to use, also sway away 5 leef top and bottom leefs for the front. Ball joint you use stock leefs, link pin the stock leefs give up so sway away 5 leef packs up front. 1/4 in Aluminum skid plates under entire trans and engine is a must on a swing car like yours because with the best tuned swing car still sits low and will hit ground. line choice is big in class 11. UMP air cleaner 1000 percent.. Let me know
When we were road racing it was always fun to walk around the pits in the evening with a beer, look at everyones setup, critique amongst ourselves, talk shop etc. The biggest mistake we made was making huge changes to the car by way of suggestion from someone else or bolting something on because it looked better than the factory part, it was a more expensive version and so on. We kept it simple and when we did make changes it was very incremental so we didn’t “shock” the setup. We let the car tell us what it needed and focused on seat time but most importantly did it for fun and remembered to always try and bring the car home! Racing will consume your life JJ, its an addiction!!! 😎
Yesterday I felt really BEAT UP…. emotionally, physically… Damn,, I spent a lot of time effort and money on that race and killed my fucking car while I was there!! The shining star of the whole trip is my BUS!!! That fucker towed like no one’s business!!! At least in Drag racing you usually don’t kill the car… Mine pretty much needs a full redo now…. 8-( I’m trying to look at the bright side and all the fun we had.. Cause we did have some fun!!!! But that course… you weren’t “racing” and having fun… you just wanted to get to the end and it be over!!!! You weren’t having “fun” driving…
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
I agree, I have too much spring plate pressure in the rear… and I need real stops… not the spring plate on the housing stop! I’m thinking straps on my shock bolts??
Should I ditch the solex?? I would prefer to have a closed decklid and regular opening… but… The weber is no doubt a better carb..

😆 😆
Some more carnage pics of the car… think we needed that skid plate??
JJ got that front apron hammered out pretty damn good yesterday 😅We had a ton of fun in the overall experience I’d say- but JJ is right that you were just hoping the car was gonna make it out of that desert in one piece and able to roll on the trailer still 😳😅We were looking up some Glen Helen – next race course- footage though and we are feeling more hopeful about that one… 😅👌🏻
