This rig is coming along fast ! I need to make a trip down to GJ and check it out before it gets all buttoned up again and loaded on the transporter. Wish I could make that trip so I could provide hands on support instead of just cheering ya on from the internet sidelines….but it’s the best I can do.
We’re still tooling away. Fuel cell going in, and steering shaft bearing mod. Pat installed the new filler/flap valve, so that we can take the hose and filler out of the window(score Baja 1000 stuff). And check out the pedal adjustment that needs some love.
Knocking out the small details as I move along. Safety wired the shift coupler.
Checked line for wear first. Added missing brake line grommet.
Fuel tank with new lighter weight short course style filler neck in. All wiring and fuel lines routed securely now.
Fabed stainless steel under dash mount brackets for the rugged radio. Install tonorrow.
We will build it if it comes.
The air condition bearing bolts up perfect to the VW mounting location. Drilled and pinned steering coupler minus the rag joint and some hardware = light weight. I noticed the box is loose and needs more shims between the pitman arm and housing too.
Looks like things are coming from apart nicely!!! Nothing a few hard days work by the clean shop can’t fix!!! Looks like the goal will be accomplished!! 😎
Never make someone a priority, that makes You and Option. 🤔🤔🤔🥲
On it since early!

Kicking ass..

Knocking shit out! Radio in.
Added a ground lug for the fuse block.
Routing and organizing wiring so nothing will rub and chafe through to a bare wire.
Working on a mount for the new light weight Antigravity battery. Removing the two Optimas alone saved us 89.8lbs! WOOOOO!!!
Off the floor out of the crush zone.
We will build it if it comes.
I like the subtle details like the ash tray knob 💥💥
😂
Fuck Yeah!!!! Hunting down Gremlins on an old air cooler sounds like a nightmare to me but everything found and fixed saves head pounding after the race!!!! Impossible that every base is covered but now you can rip the Fuk outta it and see what else you can break!!!!😀👍😀👍😀👍😀👍😀👍😀👍😀👍
Yeah it’s been fun, tons of little things. Engine is ready to go in. Just finished the main seal and carb base mod to remove the 30pict adaptor. Going to fire it up in the morning and think about what to do with all the f’d up body parts.
Pedals/cables all greased and adjusted. I had to make a pedal stop as it didn’t have anything. Also, the roller pedal wasn’t making full travel, so the carburetor wasn’t going to wide open throttle.Finished battery mount fab yesterday.
Reused the mount for the kill switch.
Batt in. All wiring done and secured.
Ready for the pass seat to go back in after a test drive.
We will build it if it comes.
Hells yeah.. Test drive right around the corner… No pun intended… 😎
