I am starting this because I don’t want to start a thread on every single thing I touch. I’ll keep my bus and the BBOE separate because they already have good threads. But I do day to day stuff for KB that I want to share. So here ya go.
today I tuned and detailed the two Mac daddy’s. The Woods/Hornbecker whatever you want to call it 52 deluxe and the 51 standard “AB51”. They got invited out to Monterey next week by VW Germany for a couple events. They get picked up tomorrow. We are flying out, so we won’t have a rig to tow them around. So I wanted to make sure they were right before we had to drive them around California. Also this past weekend Mark Lapriore came out with one of his fancy super correct sunroof covers and fixed the 52’s sunroof. Some of you may have seen an old NOS cover that was fitted to that bus in a Tijuana Treasures article in an old VW mag. That cover became hard as a rock because people are pussies and are too afraid to drive or even open the damn sunroof. So we fixed that so the bus can be used as intended now. It’s a bus. Not a one off fancy Ferrari. Use them!

Nice work, Cole. I enjoyed watching the sunroof fixes on IG (and drag race lol). The “Smith” bus got a new cover too, correct? It’s nice to see these buses getting used and taken out often for others to have the opportunity to take in.ColeBModeratorAugust 1, 2019 at 6:24 pmPost count: 1838
Andy, I think you need tickets. I’ll ask KB. Willy might also know. I think it might be $$$. But let me ask.
Pete, thanks for following along. The Smith got a new, more improved cover and it actually opens easy now. Also put on the OG Be-Ko-Wa sunroof rack. Which is like hens teeth. Super cool to see it back on after seeing it in all the og photos. Come out to Utah and you too can enjoy! Let’s go drive these! So funmtnbusParticipantAugust 1, 2019 at 6:50 pmPost count: 1232

Did a gear oil change on the 52 deluxe today. I don’t know when the last time it would’ve been done since the last 3 owners never drove it. But good thing I did. The old oil came out more like honey than gear oil. Put some new oil in it and it’s all good to go.
Thanks to Franz for the info on the access hatch behind the rear seat that makes it easy to get to the filler hole. I would’ve been screwed trying to fill it back up otherwise! HahavolksaddictParticipantAugust 4, 2019 at 6:35 pmPost count: 647
These cars that sit… That oil can do some weird stuff with time. Things mag cases don’t like.cookiemonster131ParticipantAugust 10, 2019 at 5:25 amPost count: 135
Hey Cole, whst ever happened with the vanagon? Last i heard it was getting a tdi correct?ColeBModeratorAugust 10, 2019 at 3:14 pmPost count: 1838
Still getting the tdi swap done. It had a transmission issue when Greg was testing the tdi swap. When that gets fixed and everything put back together it’ll come back to Utah. Hopefully. That thing has had a sting of bad luckColeBModeratorAugust 10, 2019 at 5:05 pmPost count: 1838
Out at Speed Week with our 46 knucklehead. A builder out of Southern California named Shinya Kimura built the bike for KB originally in 2008 he called it Sepia. It was a road bike for a few years, but shinya started to race out on the salt on his own bike and KB wanted in on the action. So shinya started slowly changing kb’s into a salt racer. Cool to see the different changes each year. I’ll have to find a photo of the original bike. The bike has gone a little over 120 at el mirage. Going to try and do better. I get to race it this year! Psyched
Rained here on Thursday night so the races won’t start until Monday morning. But got inspections all done today
