really is going to be cool. I’ve never been to mainland Asia, so half of the trip will likely be new places for me!

I love traveling, cars, being in nature, and I get to do it with my dad! Can’t think of a better combo. Going to be a big ADVENTURE

I tore the transmission down yesterday. After how crusty the motor was I was a bit worried to see how this thing was on the inside… we really just needed the ring and pinion to be good. We are planning on replacing bearings and putting a limited slip diff in it etc. but the ring and pinions are really hard to get/🤑🤑🤑.

but we lucked out! Seems like this 5 speed has never been apart. Aside from the nose cone being resealed. WITH A MAGAZINE PAGE AS THE GASKET! I’ve never heard of that! Haha that gave me a scare… I was like, oh shit. If the person who used a newspaper as a gasket rebuilt this trans then we are screwed! But seemed to just be a nose cone reseal.

I am sending out the engine case and lifters today to be refinished. As well as the trans case to be tumbled so it looks like new. Ordering parts for it all so I can reassemble when I’m back from KCW next month.

That is the most insane part of the rally. No outside support!

They allow you to send supplies to locations for repairs ahead of time…. And have “sweep mechanics” to help get cars repaired and to safe location, but other than that, Cole and Kevin are on their own.

I want to meet you guys in Paris…but worried you won’t make it 🙂

Found a picture of my old 912. I bought it as a roll over total and took a bit over a year to get it back in shape. I’d love to get my hands on another, but don’t think I’d be in any condition to do the race you’re headed for, though I do envy the opportunity. Hoping to get a chance to swing by the shop while the car is still there and check it out.

KB found pretty much the nicest driest original car to turn into a racer.

Zero rust, and good body/paint should narrow the project scope some.

I’m feeling  guilty for what we are about to do. This car was a good driver yesterday.😈🛠🔪
