My buddy and co-worker is headed out to phoenix today to pick up a partially built Wittman Tailwind. I guess the fuselage is mostly completed..He’s going to tow it back home and finish it in his garage. pretty bitchin little airplanes.

I had plans for a 1/4 scale WT once. Never got around to building it. Sexy little airplane.

You are making me want to get back into flying. I sold my 150 E ,for my single cab.

Check out ultralights and light sport aircraft catagories Kevin. Lots of options. I think a Cessna 150 fits light sport to.

I think the 140 qualifies, but not the venerable 150. That’d be cool if it did… Cooler still to do what you’re doing and build/fly/maintain your own. Giving the FAA the finger would be a great start to any day.

I would rather go the homebuilt . That way big brother isn’t looking over my shoulder, and getting in my wallet every year

The 150 defiance doesn’t fall in the light sport.

Kevin, check out Lenard Milholland’s Legal Eagle site. He has four designs. Also look at “The Eagle’s Nest”, it’s a web site dedicated to building and flying all his designs.

Short video I posted on You Tube of me setting up ribs on the rear spar and my method of keeping them 90deg until epoxy dries.

^^^I’ve been wanting a real cedar strip canoe. LOL! Don’t use the fiberglass one I have though, so probably not.

I’m setting up the right wing panel for gluing to the front spar. Pictures won’t be much different from what is already posted. But I will do some new ones. I know pictures are more fun than words.

On another note, I should be picking up my rims/hubs I had re-laced with some period correct steel rims for that Schwinn Traveler you gave me. Got to get that gem rolling again. 🙂

I was thinking, the fat tires on snow bikes would be awesome and disk brakes from Mountain bike. Bens Bush Eagle Xl

I applaud you for building your own airplane.  You got balls.  Anything my fat ass gets in would require a turbine to lift off.  Keep up the good work.

That’s a good idea Kevin. Wonder how much a rim/tube/tire weight? Wheels I have now are about 3 1/2lbs each.

Franx or Craig might know that better. I would think they would be lighter .

I’m going to look into it. Would probably need a beefier hub for stronger axle. Then I’d need to modify the landing gear leg length, otherwise it would be way to tall with 26″ rims.

OK Kevin. Here are a couple pick of the right wing. These are the root end attach points to the fuselage. Installed the strap brackets and the rib stick doublers where I had to cut away part of the rib uprights.
