Here to prep for Crandon. Step 1 is to take everything unnecessary off. Then fix the fenders and stuff… I hope we can do a quickie paint job. It has some kind of VW Paradise engine too. We need to test jumps and dial-in suspension/tires/pressures next week….probably towards the end fri/sat? Anybody know a good jump?

Cory, are you cool with welding in A-pilar to beam tubes, and B pilar to torsion housing tubes? The car needs them complete the structure + strength.49D3421A-36E6-4F9C-907A-50E4B012BF8BFAAA69F6-6A70-4A91-8D85-0F69F45311EF

Worked on your rig some yesterday.

Looked over the cage additions were going to make and decided the knee basher dash bar had to go.

Great work guys. Race car building is great fun to watch since I don’t have to pay for it.

The boys did as I figured they would on Cory’s rig….  Tear it ALL apart and start fresh with things and a clean view of what to do.. 😎  There is no doubt in my mind, that you would bend, or and break your beam without those bars…  I have done, a few times… 😎

The car needed a new look at things.. Cory should be here today and see the direction Franz and Pat want to take him.,

Only two weeks though… So a priority list will be of huge importance!!

    I heard a repaint too??  L31 army?  hummmm  2 weeks… 2 weeks..

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

The camshaft measures out pretty good. .455-.464” would be in the engle vz14 range. But we don’t know what the cam is…Lauffers probably have a special grind or something anyway.

I’m going to retorque the heads/adjust valves and call it good.

The head studs were way loose. Re-torqued to 30ft/lbs. I noticed some missing valve stem lash caps on the 3/4 side…So, installed some new ones. Also had to swap out the rocker studs as they were about to strip-out.

Valves set to .001” for steel pushrods.

I like to weld some tabs on the valve covers to prevent them from slipping around and washers to wire tie the bails in place. You definitely don’t want to lose a valve cover in a race. Easy to do if the apron gets banged around much.
