Started on a local assembly job today. More work then the average PWP so it gets a thread.

Owner has worked on assembly over the last couple? years, now he’s unable to find time to make progress.

Needed a bath before going into the clean shop.B093A5B6-7FEB-4791-98DC-4A7F62709B5ADA9042BF-A337-4133-BBCB-C4859AEF69C7FA976ED3-D2D8-43C5-A11E-88DB24D2E8072CF32C81-AEB3-416E-9AD0-3DE9925BF1FD97EF17DB-9D25-4D3D-819B-4C6006688DF32EE56ADE-A4A1-43EF-AC01-B4A4F7F7A3DA921E9B42-ACB4-4A45-A858-758DAE573D25B3275B65-0715-4D46-9F38-5079D8664A9A

We will build it if it comes.

More from yesterday. Pulled the motor to replace the disintegrating mounts. 60049744-0F38-494B-82A3-67CA5B347CC7C865E0CA-AB8C-4B82-B5CC-CD830939806B

Pulled the trans also. Going to convert the front mount to a later style. The bus adapter mount pushes the engine back making a tight fit for the later motor even tighter. D49A5ED5-97CF-4A34-8E97-4BEAF09533C3C00B661B-5699-4B7D-91DE-9E10E83CE54C

Started cleaning off years of gunk from the leaky trans. E1BC642B-9855-4EAB-B4F0-5E083E7F8F1BD074682F-C9F3-4D81-8713-07AB2BA5301A15857CF7-E432-43D9-A30E-DDF3768578BE8F4CA7E5-364C-44DA-B9D2-AEFFA01BE9C4

Found a few items on the engine that need attention, bunch on the trans. Back to cleaning now.AD1964C9-BFBD-4827-AFA0-BF15BD98E6B4

We will build it if it comes.

Even an extra 1/4” of room from that trans mount will make removing the engine so much easier.  That spindle would always snag and I would have no more room to pull back.

Pulled e-brake and pedal assemblies yesterday. All of the cables were worn or broken except for the throttle.

Didn’t smell great down there. 22FD29C1-848F-4D1B-85B4-C66BA3EFEDA97CD1F8C6-F9EB-4368-AD2B-97BD1FC6FB02

Pulled the broken rear shocks off and started removing torsion bars to replace bushings. Outers were junk and the pass spring plate retainer is cracked.72F1F5BE-B768-4302-95B4-021F4D75B10B74416091-9816-42F5-9BD6-970C18C32735

The inners bushings are so worn I can pull the spring plate off the stop by hand. The spring plates and torsions are very happy where they been the last 65 years.

Pulled fenders, drilled holes to air hammer on the torsion bars, still a no go. May have to get some heat involved. 5BED105D-30C4-473E-8B81-33706FCE7F284E6946CF-D92A-4C60-99FD-24B15888968F

Finished cleaning the frame horn area and chopped the front trans mount off.  Fresh rattle can paint job this morning. 9FB8715F-B3C5-4B94-8755-9F9558E6F57926F54F60-AC5F-48FD-9823-BB4169E84A44928EB964-752F-4D4A-ABBD-72D232BD2377

Stripped the trans down to its center section this morning. All parts removed are in great shape. Going to clean it up and send it off for a rebuild. 9D89C722-45CC-4517-A9AE-17DBB32BFDEE

We will build it if it comes.

We make it look easy…  I honestly don’t think there is a more capable shop for doing any and all VW work…  I know maybe we are grumpy to talk to on the phone…. but if you can break through that barrier… it’s all good stuff…. 😎

You guys sure do.  I wish y’all weren’t $2,000 in car shipping charges (each way) away.
