Looks like the oil cooler is the cause of the oil leak. I ordered a new clutch this morning and sent the lever shocks to apple hydraulics.

Not yet, I was planning to take your tuck to Dougā€™s shop for the canvas work. We need an engine to do that.

Sounds good Franz, didnā€™t know if he was just going to drop over and get measurements ,for the canopy ???

Got a call from Painter’s about the engine. Its bad. They said it needed a case and crank. Estimated about $3500 to repair the longblock. I told them I needed to let you know before we can proceed.

Mirror type hinge pin. I’m almost certain that it wouldn’t. Maybe extra for increased safety? Should we with a regular flat type hinge pin? Or leave it alone. Or mirror?

This is one nice Ghia. I was checking out while there for a week. Even has Bronco orange on the inside of rims. šŸ˜€

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

I noticed the hinge pin too but I agree….I don’t think its supposed to have a mirror. Right?

Also, do we have a correct star coil for it yet or do I need to keep looking?

I have not found a star coil. Research on samba indicates that the skinny version is for VW part number TL 6/1. I also found some info that says “moon” coil with production code “C” would be the most correct for 1947. The “star” version came out in 1948.

Thanks for the education….a ā€œCā€ Moon Coil huh?….that should be fun to find.
