I’m glad you guys can feel appreciated through your belly’s- cause that’s the best way I can show it!!!😁😁
Awesome Andy!! I just took her over to Boulder for a few days and did tons of driving and she did AWESOME!
The only things I’d like you to double check I suppose… sometimes the idle seems really low(?) and the whole van shakes in slow motion almost, but that mostly happens when changing between altitudes so that may be no problem… the other thing is occasionally when driving uphill the power starts to cut in and out… it did this driving up to vail pass a few days ago… I didn’t have to pull over to make it up the hill, and no lights came on or anything… up vail pass is a big hill, but it has done this before going up minor hills around Denver/boulder as well… usually I pull over and give her a brake and all is fine again!
Another issue… probably not for Andy to look at… but my fuel tank needs to be re-sealed 😬😬😬 right now I can get away with just not filling her up all the way, but If I forget and fill it up, tons of gas spills out under the van…Audrey JonesKeymasterAugust 13, 2019 at 10:04 amPost count: 120Audrey JonesKeymasterAugust 12, 2019 at 5:50 pmPost count: 120
I tried it a few times this morning and it’s still doing the same thing… the light starts flashing and the fuel pump starts when you turn the key part way, then when you turn the key all the way over it makes one click sound and nothing happens. The battery seems to have power, everything else has power, unless the battery is going bad I suppose?
I recently had a shop in boulder replace the fuel pump relay… just so you guys know…
but I’ll get it towed to the shop tomorrow AM so we can check it out!
thanks guys!!Audrey JonesKeymasterAugust 12, 2019 at 9:11 amPost count: 120
Well… the ignition switch may officially be done… took a nice drive out to Debeque and back yesterday, then tried to start the van again later and it won’t turn over at all… I can hear the fuel pump going, but it just makes 1 click sound and nothing happens when turning the key. With my tiny bit of research it sounds like it’s either the ignition switch or the starter? Of course, the van is not at the shop… but it’s in the valley at least! Not in a hurry, but Goldie probably needs another visit to KCW… or a special visit out to Fruita… OR can I do this??!😬Audrey JonesKeymasterAugust 9, 2019 at 1:18 pmPost count: 120Audrey JonesKeymasterAugust 6, 2019 at 7:31 amPost count: 120

We had an awesome weekend camping!!! The van did awesome!!
Zack went early on Friday and found us a first-come-first-serve site at a little campground called “Sleeping Elephant” in Poudre Valley outside Fort Collins. It was a great spot!! Of course, my phone camera stopped working and I forgot my real camera, so I only have a couple pictures… but what a blast to take my van on a real camping trip!!!! Loved it!!!Audrey JonesKeymasterJune 7, 2019 at 8:53 amPost count: 120Audrey JonesKeymasterJune 4, 2019 at 9:30 pmPost count: 120
The van is back in action!!! Hip hip hooray!!😍😍😍
They said the fuel pump relay was defective… plus the fuel tank crossover pipe was dislodged, but we think that had to do with the ride on the tow truck.
It is idling really well and sounds like it’s just humming!
I’m going camping this weekend!Audrey JonesKeymasterJune 3, 2019 at 6:48 pmPost count: 120
Andy just told me it sounds like the “crank sensor” and it doesn’t sound Subaru related… all good to know! I’m going down to that shop in person tomorrow morning so I can just make them start it and brainstorm with me… feels like they are almost afraid to touch it… if they are, I will send it over to Rocky Mountain Westy tomorrow and they can check it out! Haha
But Andy has also been kind enough to offer his in person services if all else fails… Andy is the best!!! thanks Andy!!!!Audrey JonesKeymasterJune 3, 2019 at 5:58 pmPost count: 120
Sorry to be posting late to the party…
Going back to the beginning… i was having some weird electrical issues with the van, for example once when I turned the van off and pulled the key out the van continued to run for a good 20 seconds after, and then other times when I turned the van on the fuel pump wouldn’t start but it would when turning the engine off… so I took it into a Volkswagen subaru shop and had them look it over and change the oil while they were at it, cause why not.
They told me they thought something was possibly wrong with the ignition switch, but not to worry about it too much as long as I make sure everything turns off so I don’t drain the battery. They had a few other things to say that my dad said was no big deal… so I drove the van home, ran some errands later that night, and It was doing great even the electrical was working again! Great!
Then I packed up the van to go camping for Memorial Day and went to head out and it wouldn’t start, Cranks and cranks and cranks but just won’t fully turn over. I called Andy and he had me check the fuses, those were fine, and had me go around and make sure every plug I could see was all the way plugged in, and wiggling all that around made something happy and it started!!
I drove it around town, picked up a friend, and then had to get gas… got gas, and couldn’t get it to start again. Sounded the same as before, cranks and cranks and cranks…Tried the same stuff and still couldnt get it to start…
I just wanted to go camping so fucking bad I had Landon and our friend help push the van to a better parking lot and convinced the manager to let me keep it there for the weekend. I finally got it towed back to that shop last Wednesday, but they haven’t had a chance to look at it yet.
They have one guy that’s willing to look at it, but they keep telling me they aren’t going to do anything unless they feel confident… not sure what is so different about the engine, but oh well. I gave them Andy’s number, but I’m hopeful it isn’t anything too big, cause it was just running totally fine until this suddenly happened. Even with the electrical stuff before it was still at least running fine…
I wonder, does Rocky Mountain Westy work on vans like this? Just as a back up…
im sure we will get it all figured out eventually!!! This is why I call her Goldie(locks)… she’s gotta have everything juuuussst right!! 😉😉 she wouldn’t be a Volkswagen without a little drama right?!?!
