Looking so good! Are you going to put the hoops/canvas on it Franz? Can’t wait for more road trips JJ!

Yeah, probably tomorrow. Kendall is drilling and clearing wood slats. I finalized vent wing seals and painted the mirror arm today.

man those piano vents are baller!!

The canvases aren’t really rated for road trip action from what I’m told…..beats the shit outta them. Around town is fine but extended hiway miles🤔 our buddy has one from Poland  (or wherever they from) for his 61 SC and takes it off usually before we log miles.

Love watching this build! Not everyday do you get to see a piano hinged Single Cab.

Is the hoops and Bow, and canvas reproduction or original?

Sorry if that was already mentioned.

It’s does have an original canvas. I‘m not sure it’s in the greatest shape. We’ll see soon.

Fit hoop bows this morning. Popped back in about 6 o’clock this evening and finished drilling, countersinking and sanding bed and hoop bows and applied first coat of urethane.

We went to a cars and coffee GTG yesterday morning. Double debut and maiden voyages, I was nervous.

Found a few things to tinker with…

The front end looks like its sagging. Maybe a broken spring? I’m going to take it apart this morning…I can at least flip the springs to give it a lift.

Bd pop quiz. Check out the spring stacks. Notice the extra leaves on the right? I assume the difference is commercial or passenger bus? Maybe early vs. late?

We have one of each on this truck. I don’t think it makes a difference….unless the center block/grub screw on the beam is clocked different?🤷‍♂️ The springs look good, no cracks.

It seems that Barndoors were offered with one 4 leaf pack and one 5 leaf pack like we have here, OR both 5 leaf packs.

…So I re-installed the packs flipped. Which got about 3/4″ lift on the front end. I also found some late-model O-rings on the link pins, which I removed to allow the spindles to seat properly against the torsion arms. Had to re-set the toe and center the steering wheel again.

Changing gear oil currently. To flush out all the metal from break-in. I have the fuel tank divider panels, and canvas tilt to install later today, and then I am absolutely finished with this one!!

I’ve done everything I can do. Satisfied.

Ready to send her home. Ride height is perfect.👌  Drives great! Plenty of get up and go. Plenty of gear. 60mph cruising speed is fast enough for the bias tires.

Installed the “older than dirt” original canvas tilt this morning. It’s falling apart. I wouldn’t do any driving with it on.

How about some motorcycle tie down mounting points? I can whip up some bolt-on eyelets?
