Went for and evening desert cruise yesterday. We ended up walking part way home while enjoying a beautiful sunset.
Broken spindle was the cause.
JJ & SS Pamper to the rescue this morning!! Thanks bro!!!!
We will build it if it comes.
Oh MAN!! Well it looks like you guys are already getting some great race training! saw shit like that out on the track π
looks like a beautiful sunset ride AND hike though π
Thatβs Awesome!!!!!! Not exactly breaking shit but getting out and having so much fun that shit breaks!!!!ππππππππππππππ
Got to remember to bring pit crew and back up vehicle on these outback travels. I believe this qualifies as “Too much fun” ?
We have gotten soooooooooooooooooooo lucky out in the desert!!!!
I’m glad I could help out!!!Β We had a spindle, we had a ride, we had the time… no big deal… πΒ π

You guys got it all !
we are lucky dudes… it’s very easy to forget that at times… but this was one that reminded ya… πΒ πΒ π
Pats about got it all fixed up.. he found a good used backing plate that was once on my drag ghia before front disc brakes..Β OG stuff…Β Pats been fixing this car for like 20 years now!!!!!!Β He gonna just put some fresh shoes on both sides and make it good for another 10,000 miles!!!! πΒ π
Daily has had an erratic idle for quite some time now. Figured it was the cracked intake boots.Β
Inside of boot was still good???
The intake manifold ends are epoxied in place.Β
Pass side had let loose.
Franz mentioned there may be a better intake in the trailer. CHROME!!! And it has heat risers!
Had to wiggle the fan shroud up to get the new intake in place.Β
Riley tore down and cleaned the carb up, removed all the PITA bolts, and helped out a ton! Thanks Bud!!Β
We will build it if it comes.
Pat, Iβve got the same Empi intake on 2 of my cars. Knock on wood , I havenβt had an issue yet. Are you gonna fab something up for the throttle linkage to work with the new intake?
I’m stocked we had that awesome intake out in the trailer… πΒ KCW.. were Volkswagens go to get fixed… π
KCW is where they come to be reborn!

I run a CB Per. base plate with the mount for their sheath cable. No mobs required to the intake.
https://www.cbperformance.com/product-p/3122.htmFollowed Franzβs advice and opened the squirters up to .060 from .050 during the cab rebuild. Much smoother acceleration.
All back together. The new intake ends are flared down so they sleeve into the end casting. That along with the heat riser make it much sturdier .Β
We will build it if it comes.
Wow! I didnβt know that throttle sheath kit existed! Thx for the link. That will get rid of all my linkage slop. π
Worked on the daily over the weekend. Pulled the 1/2 head to fix leaky pushrod tubes, and the trans to fix the torn boots I keep getting.
Cleaned everything while it was apart. Β
Boots keep pinching and tearing on the frame horns because my shits LIFTED.Β
Notched the frame horns for a bit more room.
Spring plate stops were bent inward at the lower rear, because LIFTED!!! Added a Sletten style class11 braces. They should stay out now!
Spray bomb paint to seal it up.Β
We will build it if it comes.
