Figured I’d start a thread on my Notch. Its been down for the last four months with an engine rebuild, and getting close to being road ready again… Here’s a few pics, then I ‘ll get caught up on the rebuild.
As found in 2015.
As finished in 2016.
This was the last day I drove it, Nov 19. On our way to a breakfast cruise it sucked a valve guide and that was the end of my day.
Didn’t take long to source another set of similar heads, this time they’re new CB 044 with 41×36.5 valves and single HD springs. Also changed the cam from an FK8 with 1:4 rockers to a VZ25 with 1:25 rockers. The motor is still a 2194cc 82.5×92. I couldn’t find pics of the long block. It looks like any other long block….
Some needed tin mods. That coil wire always rubbed the tin and it bugged me. Also, I’m using a different set of valve covers this time, the breathers are in a higher location than previous. Will have to rebodywork and paint the tins.
I was running tiny velocity stacks only… Now I’ll have air cleaners. I like the look of the Flat-4 Knecht air cleaners so I chopped a set down for Type-3 purposes and added some QuickLatch button latches.
^ Nice mod….those filters turned out great.
I’m thinking I might have to do something similar, though not as much, to that to get my Okrasa build to clear Ghia decklid springs.
Nice buttons on the carbs…. 😎
Never make someone a priority, that makes You and Option. 🤔🤔🤔🥲
Thanks Guys. If you haven’t tried Quick Latch products, check them out. Very well made, with tons of uses. I think I first saw them here on a build Scott Sain posted. He used them on his hood and deck lid.
I’m sure you camper guys could use them on cupboards and drawers.
Those are cool.
X2.
After seeing this post I have all sorts of ideas for these. Didn’t see any prices on that website?

Thanks for that but I meant the quik-latches.

Oh ha! My bad. I figured out what I needed on that website, then found the best price on Amazon.
