Good News Franz,.. rememeber, you
ll receive the driver dooor glass soon, I
ll let you know,….about the inside Door handle chromes, I have a guy with a original set, but he`s confirming it, I hope to receive that confirmation this week. 👍Perfect.
I started yesterday with changing the ignition switch. Then put a few decals on, battery cover and strap installed, painted hinge covers, windlace holders, and vent knobs.
Is the regulator decal correct? Where should these go?
Franz, here you see the place for regulator decal and about the year decal you can stick it right side of the windshield or the left quarter window,.. 👍👍
The horn ring hardware and difference in 58 and 59 parts threw me for a loop…but I got it figured out.
The new divider trim looks great!
So many details 🥳🤩🥰 looks fantastic!!!
“Life is a waterfall,
We’re one in the river and one again after the fall”Juan, I want to order this new parcel shelf trim. Its not very expensive. Maybe it will look nicer than the scratched originals we have.
The originals are scratched. It’s anodized surface..so not as simple as polishing out.
No problem Franz, Please do it. 👍
Got a bunch of little things done today…. On to installing the lowlightwerks mats! They look excellent.
Luis says to look at his samba thread for instructions….but there are like 50 pages of the same thing.
I just wanted to know if the tar insulation should be glued…or heated and stuck like original? Pete what did you do?
also. I see some screw holes where the firewall mat may have been attached that way. Thinking I will avoid putting holes in it unless the purist say it’s absolutely correct.
Sorry, just seeing this; my mother passed away on Friday and funeral yesterday. Shitty week all around.
I have not installed my set yet; I’ve had the mats forever but only recently got the sound absorber mats from Luis. Here’s the process I plan to use. For the mats, see post from Braukuche on this page:
For installation of the mats themselves, see rtroy’s post on this page:

I can’t wait to get mine in. I ordered a second set of floor mats to keep mint so I could put my feet all over the other set with no worries.
Glad this is finally coming together just like Juan wanted it to.. Franz is the ultimate finisher!
Honesty can potentially harm your relationship 😢
Thanks Pete. That’s what I thought. I was worried about the glue sticking to tar.
Sorry to heat about your Mom. My condolences.
Thanks JJ.
Installed the 3D printed vent knobs (thanks again Visser Precision), hinge covers with the tiny original screws. Windlace and Mat edging too.
Notice the screw hole in the defrost heat tube? I assume that is to hold the mat up?
Thanks Franz. It sucks.
I think you’re correct on the screw holes. See post at top of this page:
On the bulkhead mat several folks commented that the backside needs to be cleaned of the production mold’s release agent before attempting to use a sealant to get it in place. I think wiping it down with acetone was the agreed upon method. Also the typical upholstery spray adhesives would not hold it. You’ll need something like the black 3M weatherstrip adhesive.
Thank you very much for your help Pete,.. 👍👍
Many Good details Franz, realy Good Job,.. 👍👍
