So there was some questions and posts on bus door year differences in Toms thread. Instead of clogging up his thread with random door pics I thought I would start this thread to get some info on a door situation I have on a bus.
The bus I’m working on is a 1960 23 window deluxe. This bus overall is in good shape and looks to have all of its OG panels, EXCEPT for the right front door. It had been hit on the right front nose and hinge area and the door had been replaced.
The right door from what I can tell looks to be a VW replacement door, but there are differences from the left door that are completely different.Post any details and info you guys know of as far as the door itself and the latch assembly too.
I’m going to post pics of the left door details first and then the right door. I had nothing to do with booger welds or crappy body and paint work you may see in these pics hahaha
Left OG door.
Right replacement door.
Also note in the indentation for the outside handle the round bump out. This is like 66/67 doors that have the bolt for the front of the handle. Also on the inside the extra metal piece for that bolt. In the end of the door notice the location of the 4 holes for the latch compared to the left OG door. The door also has a hole in the inside front edge for a door check strap like the later doors.

Bus or door?
It’s a German bus. This bus was repaired/repainted around 1986 and had been sitting ever since.Tim
You know those decklids that look like 58 but have a 66-67 latch on them. They are some weird Brazilian piece that you could in the 90’s
I would guess the door to be Brazilian replacement origin.
Yeah I remember seeing those deck lids.
That is a possibility that it’s an aftermarket door for sure. I’ve never seen one like this.Ill look over the door some more and see if there are any numbers or signs of what it is.

Maybe it’s from Columbia?
