Merry Christmas!
I put some miles on my bus for BBB prep after I rebuilt the steering box, put in a new clutch, and resurfaced the flywheel. I had the gland nut come loose at 253 lbs/ft (going off of the idiots book) dry.I’m curious to hear what do you guys torque gland nuts to on 1600s?
Red Lock-tite. ย Torque to spec if itโs a stock gland nut.
I either use anti-seize or Lock-tite on most all hardware, depending on application.
Hopefully that flywheel didnโt cause too much damage.
Red Lock-tite. .
Thanks Mike. No damage luckily.
I did end up using lock-tite the second time around to be safe.
Fingers cross this does the trick.
Yep, red loc-tite on the glad nut. I know itโs ย controversial, but Iโve never had one come loose, and a good 1/2โ impact gun will break it free when you want it to come apart. I also like to use an impact to install the glad nut.๐คซ
8 dowel crank/flywheel seems to have less problems with the glad but coming loose too.
Two weeks or so๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป

This is all great info. Thanks Franz. I’m rocking the 4 dowel but good to know for future reference.
Thanks again for the feedback,
Johnny
