That’s a lot of metal! I’ll be more than happy to hit up roosters and pose that bus for some photos. Can’t wait to see it when I’m out there next! Always a good time at kcw, especially when you get to drive a barn door!

Got this pile;) out yesterday to get ready for the show this weekend! Always just starts right up (probably had been 2.5 months since I drove it last)! Washed and filled with some ethanol free. Yum. I love how this bus drives! I don’t know what you guys did, but this motor/trans combo is all time. Great for cruising around. I think it helps that it has no interior so it is super light… Got 3 comments at the gas station asking what in the hell I was doing putting gas in the trunk….. Funny what “normal” people think of these cars… The shift coupler went out when I was driving it… Gonna get one from Bob’s VW parts today and install tonight

Sometimes the early “small ball” shifter have a tendency to pop out of the cup on the shift rod. That bus probably has a red urethane aftermarket coupler too. I’d try to get the same part if bob carries Empi or bugpak.

 

JJ painted those other bd wheels too I’ll bring them with me tomorrow.

The shift coupler was black when I was under there. Are you talking about that being red urethane? Or another piece?

Yeah. Must have installed a stock one on that bus. The red ones look a little smaller and seem to be more reliable.

Got it all fixed and safety wired. Ran it around the block tonight and all is back in order. 👍🏼 Nice that barndoors have that fancy little hatch so you can get to the coupler from above

The Camping Box turned into a parts hauler for the Blackline swap meet today.

I also finally swapped those 2 other wheels out for the bent ones and it drives like a dream now!

I sold some beetle junk today so I’m happy. Good weather and a big turn out.
