    so never had an issue till now….seal between case and cooler base leaking, tore motor out, pressure tested cooler and upper seals to base, all good, re sealed bottom and still weeping!šŸ¤¬

    first set were split bad like over tightene almost seemed Like compound was soft? Iā€™m using the stepped ones from WW. Always tightened 3 bolts evenly till base touches case…….what do you guys do??

    of ya also looked for cracks in top of case but nothing showed up with torch.

    I use silicone seals from EMPI… muy bueno.

    I would have guessed cracked case…usually under one of the mounting ears for the oil cooler.

    Sure fuckin hope not…will look again. This prick has to be on the ferry Friday morning Seattle bound! Found a samba thread where guys have used a flat paper type gasket meant for remote oil cooler adapter (stock cooler delete) and had good luck using in factory configuration when canā€™t get stock to seal??

    Do you guys squash em till parts meet or put flat washers in between to hold off a bit evenly?

    Yeah tighten all the way to the case. no spacers.

    Sure you’re not trying to use the fat seals?

    Try running it with the shroud off, I bet your case is cracked under the ear where you can’t see.

    I’ve had a problem with doghouse oil cooler adapter machine work. One of the 6m studs being just barely drilled into the oil galley, and weeping around the threads.

    The stepped ones only came in one size I thought? The early are taller but just a cylinder shape no shoulder. Iā€™m wondering if it the adapter? The imprint on one seal looked funky like where it contacts the inner part of the recess.

    Thereā€™s a thick stepped and a thinner one thatā€™s stepped. Hard to tell, maybe you have small fingers šŸ˜ but it looks like the thicker one. You should be using the thin ones between cooler and mount as well as the mount to case. Unless you have an earlier case then thereā€™s a special conversion seal you need. But if right seals are used for your setup, Iā€™m with franz, crack under one of the cooler mount ears.

    The pink and white ones on the end are Empi high quality silicone and slightly thinner at 3.6mm

    I got the 6.5mm fatties in there….corksuckkka!! Guess I gotta track down some thin ones….canā€™t imagine crushing those down leave much oil flow!!šŸ˜¤

    Wait…in the three hours that passed since you had the Q&A sesh about these seals and a stripped down engine….howā€™d you get a picture of the bus, at the dealership, with seals in hand?
