    • Been buying and selling a few cars recently and I thought it would be good to put all my projects in one place; the current goal is to trade up my way to another bus, probably a ‘68 Bay Window.  I’d love to be able to buy a bus stateside and send it to KCW for some love.

I started a thread for my ‘67 Euro Bug a while ago and that car has been my daily for the last six months. I did some bodywork and fixed all the annoying stuff. It’s ready to go up for sale as soon as I’ve refitted the Eberspacher and changed the glow plug for an NOS one. Pics:

Here is a nice bay window to send to KCW. It just across the street from the shop. Super clean OG paint and the price is right $1500

Next up is the ‘76 Polo; I saw this advertised in the Swedish arctic circle. It cost £450 (about $600) but the shipping was about £1000.

    20527FCD-B45F-4032-B2AC-57F26153238E0F924EF6-587E-4502-B681-B24A233663D7260B34A6-A2E5-44FC-811B-4BA3A3295A95

It had a current Swedish MOT so when it arrived at the port I took a train and drove it home. I’ve since driven up north to see my dad in it; 800 mile round trip at 60 mph.

The first thing I did when I got it Home is  to buff the paint where it doesn’t need paintwork. The car is original unwelded and rust free except a hole on one of the front fenders and a small hole on one rocker.

Next up was figuring out some old mudflaps I bought 5 years ago; they were for a Ford Sierra but I’ll make them fit.

    FD6F1AEA-723F-40E3-A98E-7DF4B947F3ADB168828A-6870-47BE-802A-D58B53ED5E23B831ECD1-B19A-4A92-8398-C822939AD65E

Next up I got the front windshield swapped; people on the Mk1 Polo Facebook page told me I was being too picky as these are “really rare and hard to find”, so I called my insurance company and paid a small excess; £75 later I had a new one and fitting was included 😁

Then I managed to pick up a set of original 4×100 13” Cosmics. They were rough and one needed welded and machined around the Center cap hole, but I got this done local for £30. After stripping the first wheel by hand I had the other 3 bead blasted. One is currently detailed and semi polished – I sanded upto 7k then hand polished, but I’m picking up a polishing kit for my cordless drill tomorrow.

Gonna finish with a set of the new alloy cosmic Center caps. I’m picking up the Oceanic Blue paint tomorrow I had matched to the gas flap, so I can get on with the bodywork while I wait for the suspension kit to show up.

is this the one Peet got from Bubba? Looks great, but I’d need to sell the bug first…😬

Next is my most recent purchase. I saw this ‘74 Swallowtail Golf again in the Swedish arctic circle. I lucked out and found a great transport guy there a couple years ago; most people don’t want to sell overseas, so he puts them in his name first and handles everything for me. The Golf is getting shipped tomorrow, but I already got a dating letter from Volkswagen. Turns out it’s a July ‘74 and according to the Swallowtail register in Germany it’s the 3rd oldest in the world! 😳

This one will likely just be a quick flip; I’ve already been offered £4500 for it but someone who knows the early Golf market better than me advised me it’s worth more.

I wrote a long post last night about this one. Somehow it went missing, so I’ll start again but post in a few smaller posts to get up to date…

Bought this ‘76 Polo from the Swedish arctic circle again. It was rust free and super cheap – £450 – but the shipping cost about £1000 on top. My Swedish transport guy Johan hooked me up.

When it arrived I took a train to the port and drove it home; drives good for 771cc Swedish market engine. 34hp! 😂

Started messing with it; I’ve had these cut down Ford Chevron flaps for years; not sure why I kept them, but they’ll work!!

Got some original style number/license plates made up and it took over daily driver status while the Bug was being repaired/painted.

Wasn’t long before I buffed out the parts that don’t need bodywork….in the street outside my house 😁

The polo arrived with a cracked windshield. I asked around for one on the Mk1 Polo Facebook page, but they were all at the other end of the country and expensive for old scratched glass, or free but in Germany! One guy bashed me for being too picky as they’re apparently “Really rare”. So I called my insurance company; I have free glass cover with a £75 excess and was expecting this car to be unobtanium but no…it was supplied and fitted within a week 😁

Then it was the school holidays and I took my boy up north to stay with his grandparents; 800 mile round trip with absolutely no issues. Funny how you can see people thinking he’s wearing ear defenders because the car is noisy; he’s autistic and wears them all the time 😂

Back home to the beach and I picked up a set of original 4×100 13” Cosmics that needed a fair bit of work. One wheel needed welded and machined around the center cap hole. I stripped, repainted and semi polished one wheel by hand; sanded from 80-7000 grit. Bead blasted the other 3.  I’m picking up a polishing kit today and the Oceanic blue I had matched to the gas flap; I can finish the wheels and start the bodywork while waiting for the suspension kit to arrive from Germany.

    I saw that 🤪

Been busy here…yellow Golf went within 48 hours, so I pulled the trigger on Peet’s Panel Bus (thanks Franz).

Jo wasn’t keen on sleeping in a Panel, but I knew Sloan in Florida wanted one and I wanted his 71 Sierra yellow bus….until he sent pics of the rust; it needed inner and outer rockers, corners, belly pans, etc and I’m still not feeling big rust repair on Bay window buses when good ones are still pretty plentiful… He sold the bus to someone local and bought the Panel, so I scooped this one up, with a lot less rust…

Meanwhile, the Beetle sold and I bought this:

    And then this:

I really love the truck…still on its way from Sweden and can’t wait to get it. 😊

Then a good buddy of mine sold his house and wanted to flip a few cars; the plan is that he’ll put most of the money in and I’ll find, ship and sell them. We’ll do the work together.

So these 4 are on the way:

    ….gonna be busy!
