Dario – glad you like ’em! They are collectible vintage games that I played the hell out of back in the day.
I played Fireball (1970) in the local pool hall, and Captain Fantastic (1976 – video games, like Pong, were brand new) in a dive where I bartended. Vector (1980) is the first generation that had any real electronics. It has an electronic voice that insults you while you’re playing – maybe KCW needs one like Vector!YberParticipantDecember 12, 2019 at 4:56 pmPost count: 157YberParticipantDecember 12, 2019 at 2:12 pmPost count: 157
OK, KCW brothers and sisters – here are some pics of our baby safely on jack stands in the shop!
The engine for her is all ready to go – you can see it bagged under a bench in one pic. Same with the trans – it’s on an engine stand behind all the stuff covered with blankets. Still need to hang the axles and reduction boxes, but they’re all done. Under all the blankets is the interior/camper stuff, except the panelling (all cut to size, finished and ready to install) is in our storage garage out back.
Since we got her home I’ve had to work (like a dog) on outdoor chores – trying to get all that done before winter really hits us with a big storm. Then it’ll be too late. Soooo – so far all I’ve been able to do with our baby is order up some parts (wiring harness from WW) and go out and look at her! (It’s killing me!) I should be able to get started on her reassembly pretty soon – then look out! Pics will follow.YberParticipantDecember 11, 2019 at 7:55 amPost count: 157YberParticipantDecember 10, 2019 at 9:58 amPost count: 157YberParticipantDecember 10, 2019 at 9:56 amPost count: 157
Yeah – oh boy! Where should I start?
Wiring is first up – have to get that in and put in all the insulation before I can start putting in the camper interior.
Definitely mount the safaris – they’re all ready to go. Someone pointed me to some weatherstrip for them that fits perfectly- much better than repro OG style weatherstrip. It’s supposed to leak less (probably still some) than OG style. I think it was for a Saab hatchback.
The jalousie windows are already restored, so I’ll probably put them in right off too. The gas tank is also already restored and powder coated a nice gray.
OH BOY – reassembly is going to be BIG fun!!
Thanks to KCW for making our baby so gorgeous!!!YberParticipantNovember 26, 2019 at 11:11 amPost count: 157YberParticipantNovember 25, 2019 at 12:57 pmPost count: 157YberParticipantNovember 25, 2019 at 11:07 amPost count: 157YberParticipantNovember 25, 2019 at 8:45 amPost count: 157
She’s just about DONE!!! And we’re real excited!!
I’ve been watching the weather forecast between here and GJ and looking for a 3 or 4 day gap so the roads will be dry for the whole trip. Doesn’t look good this week – but so far it looks good for next week. Right now it looks like Wednesday (12/4) would be the best chance for a dry trip the whole way. Don’t want to clog up your shop longer than necessary, but I sure don’t want to trailer her home on sloppy roads and get a bunch of crap on her gorgeous new paint!!
Does that work for you?YberParticipantNovember 24, 2019 at 10:20 amPost count: 157
John – you da man!
The paint is absolutely gorgeous!!! “No runs, no drips, no errors”!!!! I can’t stop looking at the pics!!!
You’re the expert – I’ll definitely take your advice about not buffing it and breaking the surface. From the pics – it looks so good it looks like it HAS been buffed! She’s SOOOOO GORGEOUS!! And we’re both VERY, VERY happy we stuck with the factory colors – they look fantastic!!
Thanks for all the great work you and Pat did on our baby!!!YberParticipantNovember 24, 2019 at 9:11 amPost count: 157YberParticipantNovember 24, 2019 at 8:32 amPost count: 157YberParticipantNovember 23, 2019 at 6:45 pmPost count: 157YberParticipantNovember 23, 2019 at 4:26 pmPost count: 157YberParticipantNovember 23, 2019 at 2:13 pmPost count: 157YberParticipantNovember 23, 2019 at 2:11 pmPost count: 157YberParticipantNovember 23, 2019 at 8:34 amPost count: 157
