All the beautiful snow has kept me busy, not much shop time. The 58 sc is getting it’s time on the lift. This little hack:
The spring plate bolts got loose and broken back in the day, so someone got all farmer on it.
Tried to drill the bolts, no go. I think they might have been welded on. Off with the RGB, axle tube, spring plate… motor out. Kind of a lot of work to fix something that’s been working for 30 or 40 years!

OK well not really, but it’s got wheels underneath it!
I’m not ready for a project like this right now, coming off the DDWT. More tinkering and little projects right now would fit the upcoming spring activities better. And my farm truck needs some maintenance before it goes back to work here
So the fire truck red 58 is up on the slab. The 60 pos is up fs on samba, if anyone here wants it I’ll make you a deal and deliver it to KCW if you want. It will make a real nice truck when it’s done, too nice for the stuff I do with them 🙂 If it doesn’t sell I’ll revisit it this fall.
I discussed my adventures in dustless blasting in my DDWT thread. The end result is the same but if I had a choice between conventional and dustless I’d go with dry. And a eager blast operator, not big fat brah.
If I was building a baja like you are I’d go for option 1, quicker, easier and you can laugh if it gets messed up. Rhinoliner screams redneck.
