^^^ That’s s blast from the past. Bill Jan……Jan’s ‘57?
in reply to: Pete's 58 Lowlight Karmann Ghia #34177So what was the oil leak? Usually if a VW isn’t leaking oil, it is because it’s empty.
Seems to be from two spots – between the crank and flywheel, through dowel pin, and possible from one of the galley plugs. Put in a new crank/flywheel gasket and lightly coated both sides of it with Loctite 515 Flange Sealant, also put some around the base of the dowel pins on the crank end. Installed FW, tightened down, then removed gland nut and put RTV on each dowel end, then reinstalled gland nut and torqued to spec. For galley plug installed new one and coated it with Loctite 640 high-strength sleeve retainer.
The second engine pull was because I tried the Kennedy Engineered 180mm race clutch….and that didn’t seem to work well at all, so back out and went with the ol’ Sachs.
Joe R. was incredibly helpful throughout the process.
in reply to: Pete's 58 Lowlight Karmann Ghia #34174I drove this to work today. Normally that would not be worthy of a post but after the last month of chasing an oil leak, pulling engine, reinstalling, pulling AGAIN and reinstalling, and literally breaking my back in the process, it’s nice to drive this again.
in reply to: Toms rhd Oval Vert #34171Another option on the radio; Rich Langenwalter rebuilt my Sapphire I, adding an FM board and MP3 hookup. Don’t know if he does Bluetooth but you can always ask. He’s also in Lakewood, Colorado.

in reply to: Maddie's '85 Weekender #33982I’ll echo what Mark said – contact Andy for your Subaru swap. I think his website is http://www.subisquared.com, his IG is @subisquared. I think he’s in Modesto. He’ll probably chime in himself on this thread soon.
in reply to: KCW randomness #33910Good luck, JJ! Hope it goes well.
in reply to: KCW randomness #33847Sliding door high roof…that’s trippy. I thought they all had cargo doors.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33846The color screams slammed with a big motor
I haven’t been saying it… cause I do love my stock and up bus’s!!! But, seeing how its going to Texas, and probably be on concrete most the time… I think some porsche wheels and hammered…… YUM YUM!!!! Some shiny black parts are done… thinking about my next move…..
Have I started a poll? Haha just kidding bro, it’s just that colour choice is so badass add some bling wheels would blow people’s minds!!! I have love for stock too…..your truck is going to be wicked
If it were mine I wouldn’t “slam” it, but I would go straight axle and set it the height up like Parker’s bus. No camber, fat sidewalls still yields plenty of ground clearance without having redux boxes. Nice middle ground between stock height and slammed.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33556I really like that color….it’s different, and still has a commercial look. Looking good, JJ!
in reply to: KCW randomness #33555Nice write up, Mark!

DC is looking good, Pat/Chris/JJ!
in reply to: Dario's Projects #33284This is great!
in reply to: Juan’s 59 Lowlight #33283About the rubber floor kit, I haven’t received and answer from Luis (supplier), as soon as I have information about I’ll let you know.
I know Luis had to slow production some because of the cold weather in the New England area…too cold to spray the mat material. He’s started back up recently…I received a FedEx tracking notice a few days ago for a set of floor mats and undermat, so he’s back on it. My guess is yours will be done soon, Juan.
