in reply to: PatK’s Class 5/1600 #56315Riley and I started working on this again. Swapped out the stock trans cv flanges for 930s, and bolted it in. Going to start setting up the rear suspension.

in reply to: Super High Roof #56314Omar was asking about this the other day. I told him he had already invested too much time…😁😁

in reply to: Sidehill’s bug suspension #56313I like the idea of the long travel ball joints. When I jacked up on the beam near the wheel, the ball joint looked maxed. The problem with turning up the adjusters is that then I have to lift the rear more, which is OK if the CVs will take it. What do the Fox or King class 11 shocks cost, and what do the long travel BJs cost? By the way, the FOA shocks on the rear seem fine on a rocky trail, it’s just the whacking in the front which I think is the hook and rod limiter. So do you think I should cut off the hook on the suspension limiter and rely on the rubber shock limiter? So far the 40s seem better than the 44s.
Your CVs are maxed out currently, a set of 930s will solve that no problem.
If you cut the hooks off it may allow the BJ to travel to far causing them to pop out or break. Long travel BJs would help but the stop would probably need to be relocated.
Shock cost? How much do you want to spend?

in reply to: Omar’s Blue ‘56 Oval #56283Disassemble the steering box due to a leaky seal. Nothing available locally. Added to the parts list.
Flipped the upper torsion springs and bolted all the bits I could back together on the front end.
Tested, bolted in, and wired up the noise maker. Fresh horn grills installed.
You supplied 3 options for a wiper switch. OG on the left is all used up. Middle is for a bus. Let’s not talk about the other one. Added to the list.
Had to start a new list for the unobtanium turn signal switch repairs.
Ohhhhh yeeeeeeah!!!!!

in reply to: Omar’s Blue ‘56 Oval #56250Finished cleaning the pan head area and laid down a protective rattle can coat.
Brake lines back in place.
Cleaned the steering box and lots of hardware.
Bolted the beam in. Pulled the lower torsion arms and flipped the springs to make sure we don’t have a saggy front end. Upper arms and spring flip in the morning.
Wheels are ready for tires.

in reply to: Omar’s Blue ‘56 Oval #56243Got an early start today and finished fabing the missing front brake line mount. Ready to burn it in. Front end assembly up next.
We will build it if it comes.
in reply to: Omar’s Blue ‘56 Oval #56242After cleaning out the torsion housing center, I lubed the torsion bar splines with anti-seize, slipped them in, along with new bushings, spring plates and torsion caps.
New ebrake cables and cable tube seal installed.
Mocked up a trans with the new front mount, fit, burned in, and painted.
The rear brake line t mount is the most frustrating nut n bolt to install on any early car.
Rear end is ready for the trans once it’s back from rebuild.
We will build it if it comes.
in reply to: Omar’s Blue ‘56 Oval #56217Thanks for coming to the bbq! It was cool to meet your Family.
Assembly starts today. Rigged up a torsion tooth brush to clean the inner teeth this morning.

in reply to: Pat’s Projects #56215Pat, I’ve got the same Empi intake on 2 of my cars. Knock on wood , I haven’t had an issue yet. Are you gonna fab something up for the throttle linkage to work with the new intake?
I run a CB Per. base plate with the mount for their sheath cable. No mobs required to the intake.
https://www.cbperformance.com/product-p/3122.htmFollowed Franz’s advice and opened the squirters up to .060 from .050 during the cab rebuild. Much smoother acceleration.
All back together. The new intake ends are flared down so they sleeve into the end casting. That along with the heat riser make it much sturdier .
