in reply to: My endless projects… #79876
I managed to get some color on the inside before my new gun started leaking from the needle and dripping paint everywhere.
I’m still chasing little imperfections on the exterior. I’m sure I’ve blocked it at least 5 times, but I think it’s getting very close. Next up is to try to not make too big of a mess applying some seam sealer.
in reply to: My endless projects… #79875I like the earlier style dashes with less plastic, so I bought a used one from a guy on Samba unfortunately, he didn’t mention a half dozen holes drilled through it and this stereo hole mod.
in reply to: Badass photos round 2 #79375Lots of room, but no cargo doors.
What a strange Bus.
in reply to: KCW randomness #78896What a strange combination of cars. It’s cool that they’re both white.
in reply to: Motorcycle racket #78850I just finished some preservation work on a Rally 200 for my Buddy’s scooter shop, Spot-on scooters. What year is the handlebar bike and what’s been done to it? I’ll ask him what it’s worth. He’s very knowledgeable about the market and often has people looking for certain bikes.

in reply to: My endless projects… #78776Check out this crazy VDO gauge pod.
I plan on selling the wheels and tires that came with it. Near new eight spokes with new tires, and I have a full set of original, four lug Ansens if anyone is interested.
in reply to: My endless projects… #78775Still sanding and shooting poly…. There’s a lot of real estate to deal with on a Vanagon.
Against better judgement, I worked out a deal for a 914 this past week. I saw it on Craigslist and offered the seller my BMW motorcycle for it. I was kind of surprised he was down, but I’m a Porsche owner again. I love these things…
in reply to: Parkway projects #78438Just YouTube-it. 😛
in reply to: My endless projects… #78386Thanks for the reply.
I had to do some straightening of the gutters due to a PO being overly enthusiastic with clamping down a roof rack. It’s nice and straight now.
Also cleaned up some of my rosette welds from when I installed new fenders so the rear panels will fit nice and flush. This is now re-primed, seam sealed and ready to spray.
I have a new, Iwata gun on the way and will lay down some color when it arrives. Pretty excited as it will be my first paint job with a quality gun. From epoxy to poly to finish coat, I’ve never sprayed out of anything besides a HF purple gun.
in reply to: My endless projects… #78310I’ve been trying to ‘Tom Sawyer’ my friends into helping me sand by telling them how much fun it is…. No takers. I have smart friends.
in reply to: My endless projects… #78309I shot the third round of poly yesterday. It’s getting nice and straight and I hope this is my last round of blocking. My shoulders are killing me! If all goes well, I’m hoping to have some color sprayed on the inside and roof this week. I want to let the exterior gas out for a few days prior to final blocking.
in reply to: My endless projects… #78283Sometimes, I think it would have been easier to just build it from scratch. It’s been a ton of work, but they all are.
in reply to: My endless projects… #78262John, what grit do you like to use prior to final sealer coat. I’ve been blocking poly with 180.
in reply to: My endless projects… #78261I also made some struts for this front rack I found at the flea market and mounted it up in the old Schwinn.
in reply to: My endless projects… #78260I’m on my second blocking of this thing. I forgot how much work it is to paint a Bus. It’s been days since of sanding, but it’s coming out really nice.
