Pat put oil in the engine, started cranking to build oil pressure, and it puked oil everywhere. Found the oil leak coming from a full-flow drilled case. Easy fix with a plug. Probably confusion with the recon case/stock engine and oil pump.
- also in this picture you can see the lack of holes for the standard so42 z bed. Further supporting special order.
I painted the nose and misc items. A little polish work tomorrow and it’ll be golden.
in reply to: so42 feelin so34 #4460I don’t think anybody said anything about selling.
in reply to: so42 feelin so34 #4427…Until you get irritated with my buffing techniques and grab the buffer out of my hands. Haha
in reply to: Parkway projects #4424Dan said that he thought maybe there was some dirt in his carbs. Haha. I had to wash it before I could take anything apart. Torqued heads and adjusted valves so far. Carb monkey’ing today. Love me some dumbortos!

in reply to: so42 feelin so34 #4420We’re fine. All we gotta do is jam an engine in this thing to drive. 12:00 midnight on Thursday is what I heard.
I fixed the nose yesterday. Paint today, spare tire bracket, aux gas tank patch and some other stuff.

Maybe run a compression test.
I would keep the points system.
But yeah, haul it over here if you want. I’ll work on it.

Painted window is kinda neat.
The dried up O-ring that was causing the fuel leak. I couldn’t find a flat type rubber, so I cut a fiber gasket.
Nice Cole. His illustrated maps are the great. I have one hanging in the shop.
in reply to: KCW randomness #4238Yeah. Posting up as kid 63 now.
A couple more pics for ya guys, been driving this thing around (on private roads ) these twin dells really wake it up! Pulled 50mph in second gears yesterday! yehaw, so friggin loud with not headlining or anything, took my brother for short ride on the weekend, he said it was like riding in a large engine bay, this little 1600 screams now!
in reply to: so42 feelin so34 #4237Gas heater bench test. It needed service.
The unit has a few sets of electrical contacts “points” that needed cleaned, along with the spark plug and glow plug. I found the fuel regulator leaking too. Probably a dry O-ring or something. I’ll have a look tomorrow. Stoked to get it working!
in reply to: so42 feelin so34 #4219I think these backrest supports are the key to determining when/where/who put in the so34 parts. Notice they are galvanized? Somebody spent a fair amount of time grinding on bar stock to make these. Then had them plated. Also the pins have a u.s. patent number and manufacture on them. I looked it up. One of the listed uses was for aircraft. Hmmmmm Makes me think a u.s. military guy did the interior swap at a base in Germany.
u.s. patent for d.w. price ball lok pin
These are the screws that attach the support bars. 3/8″ head, brass locknuts, and holes for safety wire…more aircraft stuff?
in reply to: so42 feelin so34 #4218Peet installed some panels and started on mechanicals yesterday.
I painted top and fridge glass yesterday.
