Torque the heads & adjust valves?

    Maybe run a compression test.

I would keep the points system.

But yeah, haul it over here if you want. I’ll work on it.

    Prepping for top install.

    Painted window is kinda neat.

The dried up O-ring that was causing the fuel leak. I couldn’t find a flat type rubber, so I cut a fiber gasket.

Nice Cole. His illustrated maps are the great. I have one hanging in the shop.

Gas heater bench test. It needed service.

The unit has a few sets of electrical contacts “points” that needed cleaned, along with the spark plug and glow plug.  I found the fuel regulator leaking too. Probably a dry O-ring or something. I’ll have a look tomorrow. Stoked to get it working!

I think these backrest supports are the key to determining when/where/who put in the so34 parts. Notice they are galvanized? Somebody spent a fair amount of time grinding on bar stock to make these. Then had them plated. Also the pins have a u.s. patent number and manufacture on them. I looked it up. One of the listed uses was for aircraft. Hmmmmm Makes me think a u.s. military guy did the interior swap at a base in Germany.

u.s. patent for d.w. price ball lok pin

These are the screws that attach the support bars. 3/8″ head, brass locknuts, and holes for safety wire…more aircraft stuff?

The engine arrived back. 9 days with shipping turn-around. AND I had them do some other stuff. Painter’s rocks!

Driver’s seat base was bent from leaning back too hard. Remember this bus has hacked bulkheads. The very end of the seat frame bent down. I straitened the tube, then added gussets to prevent it from happening again. Doug is supposed to come back tonight to cover.

The panels in the cab are nicely patina’d original grey panel boards. They have some janky hardware store pulls…but whatever. I think they add to the originality of the bus. Pat wanted to cut wood.

I have a hard time believing you would like some repop webers better…

    I’m just saying.

If I have to tune and pull the jets every month. Webers are easy to work on and run just fine. Love me some empi repops!

Guys with dells in buses can sit around with a mirror and tweezer all day playing tune up. I have better things to do. 😀

Heres a tool kit to go with your Dellortos.

    Brake redivide?

I don’t think the jets are your issue. Sounds like you lost gas prime to the fuel pump.

I not sure you if you got the memo, but I’m done servicing dellortos on buses. 🙂

I pulled the engine. Ran a compression test. Once it was deemed in good condition. I stacked it with a new alt stand, end casting, intake manifold, fan shroud, 30/31 carb, and a oil bath air cleaner. The car got a tar board kit, trans axle mounts, and a low pressure fuel pump.

Its ready to drive. Hopefully everything else is good. “Other” problems at the end of a big job like this are frustrating.

    Looks like a new engine.

Some of the junk that came off.
