Started doing a bunch of rust repair on this thing. Before long the car was stripped apart and 2 gallons of zenith blue single stage “super wet look” was ordered. All the small shit is painted. Still working on the body, doors, fenders. No pics.
Played with some gas tank fab. Took an 80mm oval window filler neck and added a few inches to it, then welded it to an aftermarket 62-67 tank.

Franz, Not sure if they’ll polish through to copper..? I believe Hurst sold the copper shifters you sometimes see, as “copper”.
Pete, the later production shifters were made with the thicker blocks. Yours is good to go, rebuilt with a new thick block. Doesn’t need any reenforcement.

Use the Hurst shifter with the thicker nylon bushing. Mui bueno!
Or.. there’s a guy on Samba that makes a metal plate to reenforce the Hurst shifters with the thin nylon bushing. The thin bushing will break on you at the worst possible time! …2nd gear in the middle of a big ass intersection.
Do you have to make a speedo tube? 57-65 uses the sheathed cable.
Cip1 sells the RHD speedo cables. Good quality.

Verrrrryyy interesting ! Looks pretty nice. Wonder how well it works, and what it costs ?
I’m sure Franz could say what the cost would be to fab one up. Also depends on how good the OG shroud is that you start with.
I compared it to an OG doghouse. The cooling veins and passages are identical. Pretty sure they modeled it after the last version of the doghouse that VW made.

That thing is RAD!
The old site crashed and burned several months ago. All of the build threads were lost, but the photo gallery was saved. Not sure about the videos. It could be on YouTube… Franz would know.
