Perfect. Zero issues this year. The cam chain tensioner is making a little noise, so it’s probably time for a re-fresh.
You seeing any black material in the oil? If not, slides are OK. Are you familiar with the cam chain adjustment on these 650’s?

Bought this bad boy for my 62nd birthday present. Just did a 18 mile trip in a little over an hour, and I’m not wasted. 🤪 Electric motor pushes you right out. Check out Radpower Electric bikes. They have a bunch of cool models.

Ben.. You still ride that 29’er? wait.. better yet… when is the plane going airborne???????
Yep on the 29’er. Just rode it to breakfast Sunday. Airplane is still on the horizon. Pulling my engine off the fuse, and taking it to a guy for a look over and aluminum P/C’s. They are way lighter than the stock VW iron ones. Fall and winter are coming, retiring from steady work in December, so should see fast progress on the plane.

Thinking of springing for one of these bikes. Leaning towards the first one, as it will be more practical as a grocery getter. Second one satisfies my lust for big tires, but the frame seems small for me. Either one is the same price; and right between cheap Chinese crap, and super expensive products I’ve been looking at. What you bike guys think?

I had that same issue with my heater tube on the bus. Always smelt like pine needles and mouse piss whenever there was heat going through it.:) Finally cut it out when I did the Subi swap.

When I was a Honda mechanic in 1976-77, the QA50 listed at $650.00. In today’s money, same same. Honda has always been pricey.
On the same note, a new VW bus in the 60’s listed around $2500.00.

anyone out there have an awesome honda mini trail Z50 I could buy from them??? That would extend my mobility GREATLY on camp trips…
Honda is bringing the Mini Trail back. It is a 125 though. Just saw a you-tube vid of two guys riding them the whole 1000 mile Baja route.

I actually remember chatting about the mister system going to the fan a decade ago at some VW campouts, you and Rob (RIP) we’re probably standing right there. Was thinking about that a bunch while I was trying to cross Utah and Nevada in July a couple days ago!!!
I haven’t tried it personally, but I always thought that it was a great and simple idea. Apparently this is a somewhat common technique for keeping inter-cooler temps down: https://www.enginebasics.com/Advanced%20Engine%20Tuning/Intercooler%20Sprayers.html I wouldn’t want to run it full time, but on those exceptionally hot days it might save your motor.
Look into a water/alcohol injection system. Used to run an Edelbrock system on a V-8 truck engine years ago.
