Maiden flights on this Sunday. It is my first purpose built electric powered R/C. The plane is an old Goldberg Cub kit. I followed the plans for building the Clipped wing version. I has a Scorpion S-4020 motor. I think that is equal to a .60 glow engine. I use a 5S battery. at full throttle it will go vertical almost out of site. Lots of fun!

I had a snow trip like that once back in ’93, ’94. Crossed Vale Pass and the Eisenhower pass/Tunnel with my ’67 13 window in a severe blizzard. Wipers were working, but there was so much snow, I was down to a little cat eye patch of windshield to see out of. Defrost just kept up enough to give me roughly, a dollar sized notch to see out of. I would stop every once in a while to clear the snow. Seemed like every mile. Worst part wasn’t the snow though, that came later descending into Georgetown, the freeway was a patch of ice all the way. Had to just roll in second gear, keep a ten car space, and hope everyone in front of me quit hitting the brakes. Had several people spin out in front of me. Luckily no one got banged up, and I made it into Denver nearly frozen alive, but accident free 1st of Jan ’94.
Best part was, I had no chains, was lowered, but chugged up both passes, while most people were chaining up.

I call it Hunter Canyon road but I don’t know if that is correct but it is just east of 16 road when 16 road hits the bottom of the book cliffs. The Sarlacc trail is right off of it and some other cool new single track that they just put in last fall. The road is my favorite hill climb test road. Nice and sandy (or snow packed). I have been lucky to not have any traffic encounters but I have got some less than pleased looks… what is a speed junky to do?! Here is a picture of my last hill climb project bike up there.
Those 650R’s are beasts! I’ve had two. First one was stolen and never recovered, second, I sold ’cause I couldn’t hang on no more.
