if Franz can get some pics snapped, I can get it in Volksworld Camper&Bus! Or there’s a budget (around $200) for a photographer stateside.

in reply to: Baja Mark’s Projects #17176Back home to the beach and I picked up a set of original 4×100 13” Cosmics that needed a fair bit of work. One wheel needed welded and machined around the center cap hole. I stripped, repainted and semi polished one wheel by hand; sanded from 80-7000 grit. Bead blasted the other 3. I’m picking up a polishing kit today and the Oceanic blue I had matched to the gas flap; I can finish the wheels and start the bodywork while waiting for the suspension kit to arrive from Germany.
in reply to: Baja Mark’s Projects #17175The polo arrived with a cracked windshield. I asked around for one on the Mk1 Polo Facebook page, but they were all at the other end of the country and expensive for old scratched glass, or free but in Germany! One guy bashed me for being too picky as they’re apparently “Really rare”. So I called my insurance company; I have free glass cover with a £75 excess and was expecting this car to be unobtanium but no…it was supplied and fitted within a week 😁
Then it was the school holidays and I took my boy up north to stay with his grandparents; 800 mile round trip with absolutely no issues. Funny how you can see people thinking he’s wearing ear defenders because the car is noisy; he’s autistic and wears them all the time 😂
in reply to: Baja Mark’s Projects #17174I wrote a long post last night about this one. Somehow it went missing, so I’ll start again but post in a few smaller posts to get up to date…
Bought this ‘76 Polo from the Swedish arctic circle again. It was rust free and super cheap – £450 – but the shipping cost about £1000 on top. My Swedish transport guy Johan hooked me up.
When it arrived I took a train to the port and drove it home; drives good for 771cc Swedish market engine. 34hp! 😂
Started messing with it; I’ve had these cut down Ford Chevron flaps for years; not sure why I kept them, but they’ll work!!
Got some original style number/license plates made up and it took over daily driver status while the Bug was being repaired/painted.
Wasn’t long before I buffed out the parts that don’t need bodywork….in the street outside my house 😁
in reply to: Baja Mark’s Projects #17173Heh! You’re a Nerd!!!! Stoked for your new SCORE!!!!!!!!
Hahaha thought you knew!!! 😘 Jo always teases me about my ‘asbergers’ 😅
in reply to: Baja Mark’s Projects #17160Next is my most recent purchase. I saw this ‘74 Swallowtail Golf again in the Swedish arctic circle. I lucked out and found a great transport guy there a couple years ago; most people don’t want to sell overseas, so he puts them in his name first and handles everything for me. The Golf is getting shipped tomorrow, but I already got a dating letter from Volkswagen. Turns out it’s a July ‘74 and according to the Swallowtail register in Germany it’s the 3rd oldest in the world! 😳
This one will likely just be a quick flip; I’ve already been offered £4500 for it but someone who knows the early Golf market better than me advised me it’s worth more.
in reply to: Baja Mark’s Projects #17159Here is a nice bay window to send to KCW. It just across the street from the shop. Super clean OG paint and the price is right $1500 https://westslope.craigslist.org/cto/d/1969-vw/6694547885.html
is this the one Peet got from Bubba? Looks great, but I’d need to sell the bug first…😬
