in reply to: JJ's projects #49098AC on and air cooled car seems like bad idea… 8-( Not to mention all the air leaks… it couldn’t keep up!!!! 😎 I drove me Kombi yesterday… What a fucking awesome rig… I will forever be thank full Bill brought her to me…. 😎 It’s funny… The kombi is set up like we did things years ago!!!! Big heads, Big exhaust, Big Cam, some compression… etc… MSD ign, and holley fuel pump… I am starting to think there is something with the advantages of straight axle…. Less weight, less gears to go through…. a Lowered bus drives better, no question about it… I can go faster too… I dunno… funny to see me going full fucking circle back around to how we did things in 10 or more years ago!!!!.. 😎
Triple RGBs would be even more drag…
in reply to: JJ's projects #49095Hey Mark!! Ya know, I bought a 71 with AC, maybe Subi it and run the OG AC?!?!?!? It doesn’t need to sleep in my driveway! 😃
There’s a thread on thesamba where a guy uses the original under dash unit and adds all the modern stuff from Gilmore – they sell parts separately as well as the kits.
in reply to: JJ's projects #49094trade it for a sprinter…. 8-(
That thought has been heavy on my mind too. A/C would be nice getting through hell AZ. Plus, I just found out, I owe the IRS big coin from 2017.
Can’t help with the IRS problem but I’ve heard the Gilmore A/C kits work well and don’t rob any HP unlike the old style York compressors.
I’m running a Subaru motor in my bus Mark. Got all the stock brackets, just need the motivation to get it done.
Sounds cool. Ice cold comfort on hot days should be enough motivation!
in reply to: Cole’s 65 Beetle #49071Yeah that looks crazy all exploded; I’m sure it’s satisfying work when you know what you’re doing though!
