Be different, Kelly! Enough of the Super Beetle engines in early cars! 😀 I really like how Erik’s engine is turning out with the Zeniths:

    164C5E58-BF0A-425A-91BE-BE741614355B (002)

Erik’s engine is looking nice. I thought he was going to run dual solex p11 carbs?

1914cc, 1.1 rockers, solid shafts, swivel feet, 110 cam, panchito heads, hunt magneto, IDA carbs small venturies, Porsche linkage, 36hp fan shroud, 36hp genetartor backing plate, and a A1 sidewinder

I believe he liked the specs of the Zeniths being a better pairing to his engine than the choked down P11 40’s.

More assemble last night. Finished relieving the torsion bar splines and got them installed. CFAD0F6F-5385-4D04-BA22-58D363EA22C1

Bolted in the master cylinder and bent up the remaining brake hard lines.5959E58C-396B-409A-A419-068D57969C1E

Beam bolted up, springs packs in, torsion arms  and seals as well. Should have the front end finished up tomorrow.B7649F58-8D08-4E60-B2DC-456310D27241

We will build it if it comes.

Use a 74 crank, 1.25s, 100 cam, CB distributor, and everything else is fine.
The magneto requires too much maintenance. Use the CB and program it.

All the motor choices are good.  Mary has requested that the engine area be as clean as Franz can make it.  She also didn’t want a big motor, sorry JJ.

Scott….I’ve been thinking about this all day…Why does the magneto require too much maintenance?  I honestly don’t know.

I’ll take a look at the CB distributor. 😉

I think they have to be serviced frequently? I’d rather take advantage of modern technology for the ignition system.

Delayed update. Friday I was able to get the spindles all put together with new bushings, king and link pins. F05913BF-A92B-40EA-A5CF-214E1FEE0D99

Got them installed on the front end along with rotors, calipers and softlines.3436A610-055B-4573-BC1B-988B262CCF50

Finish the pan. Then its onto wiring the body. Corona Ryan has the speedo. I sent Kelly a link to those sweet blapunkt radios from Tiawan.

We need to buy a speaker grill off of samba too.

Hi, could you share that link here. I am in Taiwan and could use a proper radio for a beetle. Thanks
