Taiwan radio from http://www.barefootdriver.com is a simple strait forward unit, coupled to a dual voice coil retrosound speaker will keep the install mess to a minimum. I ground some slots into the radio bezel nuts so that I could use our VW bezel tool.

I’m going to cut the cross bar out from the speaker mount so that it doesn’t show through the grill. I also noticed the lower grill tab slots are missing (marked by yellow tape). Doh

Installing the doors to watch alignment while tightening the pan bolts. I found the driver door to have excessively worn pin/bore…and these convertibles have special pins along with hinge covers… going to be fun to repair/replicate.

Today I started out searching for that OG hardware out in the back lot and getting every bolt on this car the correct KMAX bolt that it needs. Blasted all the hardware that I needed, painted, and installed.

Then I moved on to a bit of wiring. Got the brake switches wired up and the starter.

Then I ended my day with starting to modify the brake fluid reservoir. I have to increase the feed tube so it will join up to the T fitting I’ve put in place to feed the dual circuit master cylinder. Tomarrow morning I’ll get this finished up and installed.

Ordering the Chuck stuff this week. I needed Mary to be ok with the grey headliner.

Also I’m pretty sure she’s gonna go with the mini 2 liter motor.  At least I can say it has a 2 liter motor, when someone asked the motor size.

Hurry up on that chucks order!!!!!  Please sir… Thats a variable we can control… unlike Doug!!!  And I think we are going to have him here a bunch soon…. maybe we can work like three projects out of him!!!!  Were gonna have to feed him 100 bills like treats….. 😎

West has been dialing in details on this rig… stuff that take a lot of time, but add to the value and quality of the overall job!!!

Yesterday I finished up the brake fluid reservoir with welding on the new tube and painted it and installed it. I also welded a captured bolt on the back side so it’s easy for removal if need be.

After that I moved on to digging out the filled in tab holes for the dash speaker grill. Then I cut out the center section on the retro sound speaker adapter for a cleaner look. I did some paint touch up on the dash before assembling everything, then blasted and painted the speaker mesh black and installed the grill assembly.

After that franz pointed out that I polish the switch faces as well. So I sanded the machine marks down with some 1000grit paper, and polished to a bright shine. They definitely look better polished.

Well as Pat said,  I located to top frame, dug it out and got it wiped down, found some KMAX bolts to put in it, and chased the threads on the nut plate in the body. I got the frame installed, found all the vert top wood and started seeing where I gotta go to start getting it all fitted up. Man I’ll say… Once you put that vert frame on, that’s when you realize this really was hand built. Lots of massaging and fitting of the wood and the frame to get it all proper.
