Let’s go Doug….Work your magic…John JonesModeratorJanuary 16, 2021 at 12:39 pmPost count: 7568
come on DOUG is true…. and When the guys get the 912 wrapped up and think they will work together on yoru car and knock it out.. thats more how we want to start doing projects… Not piddle along with one guy when two could be getting 2 1/2 times the work done in the same calendar time.. Sure the log reflects the extra labor.. but it’s more fun, better organized and less sitting around that way…
But I dunno about Doug…. I think his plans for the year are to do as little as he can get away with!Lone StarParticipantJanuary 20, 2021 at 4:08 pmPost count: 243
Call up Doug and get him to start on the top this week. Friday maybe. 😀FranzModeratorJanuary 20, 2021 at 6:22 pmPost count: 4072
Supposed to be here tomorrow actually.Pat KModeratorJanuary 22, 2021 at 6:35 pmPost count: 1868
Doug was here today. Fitting the wood and getting the top mech just right before starting upholstery work.
I disassembled all of the chrome bits that are going to need replating. Some of it was like taking a science test you’ve never study for.
You were missing one interior door handle, decklid T handle/escutcheon ring, and the hood handle. Found all of those in the KCW stash. Decklid latch mech as well.
Cleaned up vert top sill plates.
Still need to get the tiny set screw out of the hood lock mech before we send this stuff out.
We will build it if it comes.John JonesModeratorJanuary 24, 2021 at 6:55 amPost count: 7568
OK Kelly.. Your front and center.. Lets keep the momentum moving till we are done!!! 😎FranzModeratorJanuary 24, 2021 at 5:56 pmPost count: 4072

Doug and Pat have been working on this today!!
Doug is hand sewing over some areas he glued to reinforce it here.. he says these early convertible tops are super tough but he has some tricks up his sleeve and has done this once or twice… 😏😎
Busy day in the clean shop today!Pat KModeratorJanuary 25, 2021 at 6:22 pmPost count: 1868
Got that little teeny screw out of the hood latch mech, but I found a broken lock barrel upon removal.
figured out that a decklid T handle has the same lock barrel. Stole one from the KCW stash. Ready to send parts off for chrome.
Cleaned, polished, vinyl painted, and installed the dash grab handle.
Fit the new glove box.
Body and paint guys didn’t notice the glove box retaining strap was missing. Fabed up a new one. We’ll get it painted then burned in and paint touched up after install.
Fresh choke cable and seals in.
Started messing with semaphores, then this tiny spring fell out….sooo Im calling in a night.
We will build it if it comes.John JonesModeratorJanuary 26, 2021 at 9:30 amPost count: 7568
I can feel the ball rolling.. the momentum is building…. 😎Pat KModeratorJanuary 26, 2021 at 11:11 amPost count: 1868
Started early today. Few more of the tedious little items knocked off the list.
I was able to get that tiny spring back on without disassembling the semaphore. Also got the bulbs installed. Need to order lens screws.
Started tapping the mount to check the fit on the driver side semaphore and the little locating/mount bung broke off……😫😫😫
Checked the passenger side, it was already missing…..Sooo…I welded 6 mm nuts to the backside of the semaphore boxes. Just needs a little paint touch up inside the box. Problem solved!
Speedo cable routing tube and cable installed.
Doug was here yesterday. He added the strapping to the vert frame to set the bows. He’s back today. Just about ready to start upholstery.
Pulled a vert only dome light cut off switch out of the KCW stash.
Fabricated a bracket. Cleaned up the switch and installed on bracket. Ready to go in when Doug is ready for it.
Also tied in the dome light wiring. It gets sewn into the top.
We will build it if it comes.russParticipantJanuary 26, 2021 at 1:08 pmPost count: 91
